    Good job, Mike.

Don't let Al bother you...he didn't even put up anything this year....not even a mini-mega. In fact, he may not even be in the state right now....So you're waaaay ahead of him!

Mike I gotta ask the basics. You don't have 2 controllers with the same unit id do you? What about your channel configuration. Does the sequence editor channels match the way you've got it connected?

I have 3 controllers that the hardware editor can't find but works find with sequence editor. In everything but the hardware editor, the controllers act as slaves and do not communicate with the PC. They are listen only. However, when you poll the controller from the hardware editor, it talks to the PC. Try using the console function, in hardware editor, set the address and turn on an output. If that works then you have a bad read back from the controller. LOR will send you a new RS485 driver IC if that is the case. However, I broke the cable sockets on my controllers. That may have happened to you too.

I also suggest taking a laptop and LOR 485 adapter out with you and plugging in direct to one at a time. Follow the LOR RESET procedure for your controller type and make sure the unit IDs are set on each. During my first year I had at least two controllers that had to be reset before they would work correctly.

Also check the firmware levels. If they are 4.40 then they are the newer ones and don't need flash. If they are anything less than 4.32, then flash them up, using the 4.3 flash on the LOR site. The current flash on their site is named 4.3 but comes up as 4.32 when installed.

Here's the thing about controllers. If they can "listen" to the commands that are sent, they will turn their channels on/off. If they can talk back to the computer, then they will show up in the HW utility. It's only if they respond and the computer can "hear" their response.

So, for those controllers where there's a bad cable, or the RJ45 socket is bad or something like that, where they can't talk and have the computer hear them, won't respond to the HW utility.

Sometimes that is also due to the RS485 (communication) chip on the controller getting fried because of a bad cable, short or something like that. If only the output section gets fried, then the controller can't talk back to the computer.

So it might work just fine, especially if the LED stops blinking when it's plugged in. That means the controller can "hear" the computer signals.

If Mike has the LOR Controller Husband Communication Module, the controller only listens when it wants to. The controller usually ignores the PC while it it working.
