Are you talking about real trees? If so the floods might reflect better on the lighter color of them. Just built up some flood lights myself and haven't tested them, so I really don't know what would look better.

Maybe someone who has had experience with both can chime in. I really think it's going to come down to what the end effect you want.

I would string them with dumb RGB strings. And if you wound them around the tree from the top, you might get 4 or 5 strings on each tree. That would give you some color "rings" effects with 4 or 5 RGBs (12 or 15 channels) per tree. And of course changing the color of the whole tree ..

Yes, probably triple the cost but 10 times more effects.

    Mike -

Do you have the resources right now to set one up and try each method? I don't know if you have a color flood light to do reflective lighting; I'm fairly certain you have RBG to try that. I'm fairly certain that if you don't have color floods, one of us can lend you one for a short period of time. How you end up doing it will be a "personal preference - bank account allowed" process, but it'd be good to know what actually works in your yard.

That reminds me; gotta go check my Mighty Minis; I want to use them in a July 4/Independence day display, need to make sure they stil work - and have time to fix the one I know red went out on.

If only 6 foot, I'd say pixels at this point.
