Drooling is the word that first comes to mind....

Rumor has it that the original setup that this guy did for 2009 will be available for sale...since he's building the new light nodes and selling the strings. The 2009 setup had only 5 bits per color, so 256 different colors. New nodes will be 8-bit or lots more different color combinations.

I'd like to know where to get this technology from and the cost.

Cost of the nodes, cost of the planned controller, etc...is available on response-box.com. Look at the 2010 Project files.

Also being discussed on DIYC, but there's been no new updates in the last month or so...

JEC used these pixels to outline his windows and roofline. He's indicated that they're for sale - 1000 nodes, w/controller and power supplies. In the $1800-2400 price range is what was mentioned...at the web site mentioned above.

The roof was done in 2008 by the same person who developed the Ultimate Mega Tree. His "pixels" are or were available for sale as Tripix, I believe.

The programming of these are done less by something like LOR or LSP, and more by something that handles them like video.
