    Default Mini Trees

As many of you know, the so called "mini tree" has been around for years now. It's a staple of many Christmas displays. They can be used great with music in sets of 4,8,12, or any other combination! In recent years, they have been improved with multiple color strands, and even RGB nodes. Now some even have pixels!

I thought we could start this thread to show off the most unique and interesting mini-trees that we have seen. They have come a long way since the beginning, and are very under-appreciated! Lets show them some love.

I'll start off with a classic tomato cage design:

This isn't my work, but I really do like the design, complete with star on top!

    Resurrecting this thread a little.

Here are pictures of Sam's pixel mini trees:

Here are more tomato cage designs.

You can see in my first one how with just one cage, they look triangular, but still have the round rings. It's not bad, but it was "weird" when I looked at it. This was also before I switched to the 4" zip ties instead of the 10" zip ties.

This is how I re-built mine - First one is when I was about half way done. Second is a completed tree.

For me, being able to see through the tree really opens up the amount of light you can use. These are 300 LED minis on each tree. I have 20 of these in the front yard.

I hope this helps show various ways of building trees!!

You mini trees look great Scott, you gave a good demonstration at the TASL meeting on how to build them.

When Annie built our mini trees she used 120 leds per tree and they look pretty good, not as full as yours but still a good amount of light. This year I think she is going to add another 120 to them and then we can go to two channels per tree as well.

here are two of our trees that @AnniesSS made, the short one is about 2 feet tall and the other is about 3 feet tall. Both use two tomato cages like in @scottmcl demonstration.

I think Annie is going to add another wrap of lights in the opposite direction, so these will end up with about 240 leds per tree.

Our mini trees are actually store bought mini trees. We just added red and green LED's. Each tree is on a channel by itself.
