    Default Mega Tree Hook Head

Has anyone purchased one of the "mega tree hook heads" from Darryl and used this instead of building one with the bun or PVC. How did it turn out? Im trying to decide 1)if it will work with very little adjustments and 2) if its cheaper. Its only $40 and I wonder If it would cost me more to buy the bun all the hooks, the flange etc. If its only $5-10 cheaper to do it yourself, I'll order this.

I bought one for this year as I'm totally rebuiding my megatree and will have 128 strings of C6 FWR LEDs on it, and my older homemade one wouldn't accomodate the increase quantity and weight.

I tested and I can fit 8 strings on each hook.

I built my own. I used a wooden bun in the past, but like this design much better.

I just made on this year with a Bunfoot and 16 hooks. It's the same one that Al used and his has been used for 2 years and has had no problem. Last year he had 3 strings per hook and 16 hooks on the bunfoot. It was plenty strong and has a good 3-4 years left of life. Hear are some pictures of mine.

I bought the larger one from Christmas Light Show, along with the pole top unit with the pully, and the 5-way foot. I have to run out to Agri-Supply tomorrow to buy a winch and some steel cable (for the winch and the guy wires). I am building the same unit shown in the Christmas Light Show Tutorial. My son and I cut the legs and threaded them this evening. They are mounted on the 5-way base. I decided tonight that my megatree will be the full 21 feet tall with 32 channels, and 64 strings of lights. I have to calculate the final height by tomorrow and cut the upright to size. I just realized that I didn't make a star for the top yet ... Geez, it's always something !
