Default Using dual monitors for S2 programming

I hooked up a second monitor on my computer today. I now can put the S2 Sequence Editor on one monitor and the Animator on the other monitor. Now this is the way to go instead of switching back and forth between them in S2. It makes sequencing easier. I should have thought about this a long time ago.

    You should of asked John.

He would have given great guidance to you.

    Thanks William.

I sure can give guidance to my ol' buddy Al.

My advice is to use one 24" monitor (or larger) for the sequence.

I have never used the annimator. Seems like a sissy way to do a sequence.

My main annimator is my imagination in my bald head.

When I sequence a group, (64 Channel megatree, 24 Giant Bulbs, 16 Channel Pinwheel, Snowflake Forest, etc) I watch the channel buttons in the sequence screen on playback to see if those buttons light up where I want them to in the music.

Just the way I have always done my sequences.

I am sorry I didn't mention this last year. I use the second display so much I just take it for granted .. I was doing dual display with LOR from the first time I installed S2 last year. I guess we just never discussed it.

I guess I am a sissy or at least by John's definition. I find the Animator a useful tool. I cannot see all of the channels simultaneously any other way. I don't need the second monitor but it makes it a little simpler.

I do just like John, but my head has hair. My display is drawn out on paper and I go by it.

Running off of a laptop I have to say I really enjoying hooking up to a second monitor the 26" monitor can be a great gift at times.

    Denny -

Dual monitors didn't really work until the early 2000's; Windows 98 had to have a special driver to make it work. But then, Windows 98 had to have a special driver to do just about anything that wasn't "Microsoft standard" I think Linux supported it earlier than that, but S2 won't run Linux native (neither will S1)

I understand that Mr. Bill Gates now runs 6 monitors on his computer, leaving various applications in the foreground on several of them. Same guy that in 1994 said the Internet was a passing fancy and wouldn't go anyplace.

I do believe you've mentioned dual monitors; I've got a pair of 24" monitors myself, attached to my laptop. If I could put up with the differences in screen size, I could use the laptop screen as a third monitor - and have, occasionally.

If you can tolerate different size monitors, you can usually go into your display settings and set up your system as two monitors, one the 26" external screen and the other the smaller (probably OK for the animator) laptop screen. Right-click in a blank area of your screen and select the "Properties" line, then go to the "Settings" tab. Click on monitor 2 (or 3 in my case, since I'm running a USB video adapter on my laptop) and check the "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor", then click "apply" or "OK".

You can change the alignment of the displays by moving the monitor icon around.

How about doing both? I went dual 24" at home! Great for my job as well.

Unfortunately, the ones I have don't rotate to portrait mode, only landscape. I'd like to run 3 of them in portrait mode.
