Default Hello from Highlands Ranch, CO

I just got started in DIYC stuff in January of this year.

I have written a free tool to help DIYC people create animations on RGB device

the tool is at Nutcracker: RGB Effects Builder.

Here are some of the animations it can do

    butterfly wing

    meteors

    scrolling text

    garlands

The tool supports Vixen, LSP and LOR.

I dont yet have any hardware, maybe this summer i can find out how my effects look on my own tree.

    thanks
    sean

    Sean,
Welcome to Christmas Carolina....glad to see you made your way over here from DIYC and other places...

I'm thrilled with what you've done already.

I'm hoping that you plan to do other models besides a tree, since I have some arch fans and some vertical poles that I need to be able to predefine effects.

New location - new display. Looking forward to 2015 season!

Welcome Sean. I joined your site a few weeks ago and I've been really excited about your work.

I am not only curious how your tool will be able to load into LOR. But just as important, how we will be able to manipulate your models (with precision time scaling of the effects) to synchronize with the music (and not just "time") ..
    Thanks,

    Sean -

Welcome to CC. You're going to get me in trouble.

I have a new manager in my company; she lives just outside of Denver. She is in fear of her husband finding out I do animated lights; apparently he does a large static display. Or rather, did.........you're close to them.

Now I'm off to make her aware you're there. She may let it slip to her husband about you.....

    Thanks!

I do releases a few times per week. Here is the latest

There is a new effect for the Nutcracker software.

Snowstorm tried to simulate snowflakes in blowing wind. For this effect, i keep track of every snowflake in an array. I then give a random value to a vector and remember the new direction. This may look like just the blinking pixels, the logix is very different. Try picking one snowflake and follow its path.

You get prompted for the Maximum Snowflakes to start in the storm.

    effect_name SNOW1
    window_degrees 180
    seq_duration 5
    start_color #FF250D
    end_color #051EFF
    frame_delay 50
    maxSnowflakes 50
submit Submit Form to create your effect

Now lets try , say 300 snowflakes

    user_target ZZ_ZZ
    effect_class snowstorm
    effect_name SNOW2
    window_degrees 180
    seq_duration 5
    start_color #FF250D
    end_color #051EFF
    frame_delay 50
    maxSnowflakes 300
submit Submit Form to create your effect

Lets tone down the effect by limiting to 150 pixels and a smaller color range

    end_color #00FF2A

    frame_delay 50

submit Submit Form to create your effect

    enjoy
