Default RGB Tutorial <Awesome> - Thanks Fasteddy !

I originally saw the link to this tutorial when picking through the SanDevices information for the E681 controllers, but I didn't have time to view it. I finally pulled a copy and <wow>. This is the most complete and best tutorial I have seen. Everyone who wants to consider the RGB pixel world should save a copy and view this (probably multiple times). Some of it gets deep and the pages are programmed so you can study the complicated things before you move on. Bravo Fasteddy !

We plan to have a detailed RGB discussion in the first TASL meeting so I I highly recommend everyone to read this in advance.

Dumb being it doesn't have embedded electronics that allows control of each pixel. A node will usually have the electronics built into a tiny circuit board under the led. The entire node is sealed in something that makes it water resistant.

Adding to what Al has said, you can control a dumb string with three channels (for R, G and B). The whole string lights up to the color you selected in your software.

Your welcome, Im glad you guys found it useful

Here is the link to the original that is unzipped

Also many wonder what E1.31 is when driving RGB pixels so here is an introduction to E1.31

Also many who use LOR gear want to start using their LOR gear with DMX and this next presentation goes into detail on how to do that

I have created a Learning centre which deals with RGB lighting over at The Learning Centre at Auschristmaslighting and this may help those that are starting to get into RGB lighting

So LOR does not work with E1.31. Thats what I think I need to run the GE Color Effect Strings. Is this correct?

Or does it need the E681?? Or both? LoL

LOR currently does not support E1.31, Dan has said that this should be out mid year, but with history i do wonder if that will be the case. I also wonder if there will be any restrictions on it as the reality is that LOR are a buisness and just by offering E1.31 may not add any value for them, so i wonder what will be the priority.
We will have to wait and see what eventuates.
The only controller that will currently run the GE color effects string is the E60x controller which is E1.31

I am moving forward with pixel strings this year using E1.31. And I'm counting on LOR supporting E1.31. If LOR fails to support E1.31 then my backup plan is to immediately buy LightShow Pro. My opinion is LOR will lose a lot of licenses if they fail to support E1.31 this year (soon). I could see many licenses moving away from LOR by August, which is about when I would make the jump.

Since LSP can read LOR 3 sequences, there's not much risk of moving. I think LOR would be doing LSP a favor if they fail to get E1.31 support this year (soon) !

    Denny,
Just be careful with importing S3 into LSP. I used it in 2010 and when I imported to LSP some of the audio did not line up, and the programing was a little out of wack. All this could of been fixed with the updates.

Another option for those that are using LOR and want to use e1.31 controllers is to use X-Lights software, it works with LOR sequences and can output E1.31 and DMX. This is a great backup in case LOR dont come out with the E1.31 plugin in time.
