    Default Walmart's 2010 Incandescent Lights

FYI: Walmart's 100ct incandescent light strings are 21.5 feet long this year. They continue to get shorter each year.

That is crappy. I can see us Incandescent guys having to stock up on the deals during the off-season (for the stuff we're going to need long term). In a couple more years the stores are going to phase them out and the prices are going to go up. Ouch !

I don't think the stores will phase them out at all...as long as we buy them. Christmas lights aren't part of the federal incandescent phase out.

I hope your right Jedi...I use led's, but as I grow in the hobby, I'm discovering that incads look so much better for certain things.

Yes it bit me too this year!! I had planned all year to upsize my Mega tree to 20' from 12' and was going to also double the number of lights from 3600 to 7200. However, when I went this year to buy the new lights I found the strings are 2 feet shorter! Ugh. How dare they!! So I ended up replacing all the lights! Cha-ching. Ouch that hurt. Oh well - the tree will be well lit!

The good news is that for those of us who prefer to use 3/4" pvc for arches and poles we won't be having the problem of the lights all lining up when we wrap them any more.

I'm so irritated with the crappy quality of the Wally-World lights.. I've had so many problems with strings out of the box, I can't see straight!! So, I'm starting to look for sales, and right after Christmas, I'm starting the migration to LED's.

Paul at CDI always has his presale in January each year. These are FWR (no flicker), sealed (no rust) LEDs. Top quality!

I have over 40,000 LEDs, 700 plus strings of these bulbs, and have been dealing with Paul since 2007. Only had one string fail in the field and it was on its 3rd season.

No problems with dimming or fading, no need for spending extra money on building snubbers like some of the retail store lights require.

By always buying during the presales, my average cost per string is $ 7.23

I highly recommend you consider CDI as a source for QUALITY LED lights in January.

Guess I need to start planning now. I got mine from Paul in June and know I paid a little more than the Jan sale. Was still a great price! And the lights have worked flawlessly. "Funnest" time was plugging in a bunch of my lights into the killowatt and seeing it draw .3 Amps. That was awesome. I still haven't measured Walter's star and not sure I want to!

You must have had about 15 strings of 50 ct lights to draw that MUCH current! lol

and no, keep your Kill-O-Watt meter away from Walter's star. The Kill-O-Watt can only safely measure 15 amps!
