    Default Projector

This link is to a project that might be of help. It has RCA jack inputs which means that you must feed it from another RCA jack source. An example would be a DVD, TV, camera, or even a video card with RCA jacks. It has a MR16 halogen bulb and is not water resistant. However with a little creative housing it could be. It has an onboard speaker too. It costs $69.99 with $8.81 shipping to Raleigh.

If it had a USB, DVI, or HDMI it would be better but you might be able to work around that.

Just be aware - resolution is 480x240, so it will be a not so sharp picture on the wall.

Not something I would want to watch if it were a video for too long...

But it could work for short periods of video.

    Mark,

I have been looking for a projector that I can control with my PC instead of an IR remote. I like to toggle between two dvd players and a slide show on my PC. Being able to Blank out the screen in between shows would be a plus too.

The kicker here is having LOR send the commands to the projector or the projector software...

    Is this doable? Any suggestions?

The resolution is not very good by today's standards. However, it would be great for a Christmas display either shown onto a screen from the back or onto the side of the house or garage door. Video isn't something that I planned on getting into except for Halloween. Since it is simply a video projector and not a complicated device you could control the projector with an AC controller channel. You might be able to find an "automatic" RCA jack multiswitch. If not you could make one fairly easily.

This would make a great virtual Santa for a window. Cover the window inside with something like cheese cloth and project an image onto it. The reviews on this thing said it had a noisy fan.

I would like to incorporate a video project next year but I have reached the saturation point for this year. Gotta stick to plan or risk failure !

I want to find a Video projector that is:
    - Higher resolution (at least 1200 x 800)-ish
    - Waterproof or can hide under a little roof
    - Can be controlled by DMX

The last item may not be standard but some kind of black box or adapated <existing> DMX control device may get this solved. THere are probably a ton of DMX device web groups out there. I am afraid to look right now for fear I will find one, but I plan to next year .. :-)
    Thanks,

    I'll tell ya Al,

I would like to see that LED projector you mentioned in the other post. I could simply use an LOR channel to turn one (or two) on and off when I want. I'm really leaning towards a couple of them instead of a high dollar, try to keep dry, indoor unit.

Do you know anyone using one?
