    Default Veteran's Day Free Meals

Happy Veteran's Day to you vets. I am a vet too. A couple places are offering free meals.
    1) Golden Corral 5-9pm
    2) Applebee's. Free entree from a certain menu. No SOS anywhere on the menu.
    3) Outback has some blooming onion or blooming something and free beverage.

Lowe's and HD usually offer 10% off no limit.

Most business want an ID card, picture in uniform (it is hard to believe I was ever that young), or DD214.

    Al

Thank you for your service. Most folks don't value the freedom we have and the men and women who make daily sacrifices to maintain it for us.

Thanks Austin. Deb (my wife) and I were talking at dinner tonight about how the military's image has changed. Deb bought a GI dinner tonight because he was in uniform. Deb said a friend of hers liked going out with her nephew (GI) when he was in uniform because people always came up to him and thanked him and often picked up the check. I can confirm that as a close friend of mine is a chaplain in the army. It happens. I never had anybody ever buy me anything while in uniform. When I was in the army and wore a uniform in public, especially the airport, people would come up to me and call me a baby killer and spit on me. It happened more times than I care to count. I remember how I disliked wearing a uniform to travel simply because it sometimes meant confrontations with people I didn't know. The kids in uniform now are children of my generation. They can wear a uniform in public and be proud and people treat them with respect.

Now people spit on me at the Charlotte Christmas conventions. Somethings never change.

Hey, Al, I tried to buy you dinner in Moncure; you turned me down.

I'll buy you a coffee at the TASL get-together; thanks for your service!
