I didn't realize it was through the 14th. Didn't he like sell it in a few hours last year? I guess he is giving out rain checks.

So, I have a dilemma. Should I spend $100 for a LOR DC controller, or order the parts to build a similar DC 16 channel controller. Board and chip cost is $8, and parts are about $30 plus shipping, so call it $50 total.

I'd love to order a CCR, too, and would love to use the "Try for free" option and possibly get it for free. But then again, there's no guarantee.... and it looks like China suppliers are getting closer to a decent price for the same stuff, too.

I'm seriously considering getting at least one LOR DC controller anyway, to show how it would work with the rest of my stuff, but my skinflint side says don't spend the extra money....

    Any thots, anyone?

Mark, I am buying 3 dc controllers simply because I don't have time to put anymore DIY stuff together. There is a new option on the DC controller for $80 plus shipping which would make the controller $15 cheaper. It has quick connect terminals instead of screw terminals. I'm not sure which I want to buy. Quick terminals make it so much easier after the first time to connect the wiring. I don't have time for anymore DIY this year. Walter and I have yet to put this years stuff in enclosures and add connectors.

I have 4 DC cards with the screw terminals. I'm ordering 4 more with the quck connects.

Also with the TryForFree you get another 2% off. So about $78 for the LOR DC card.

Mark, do you realize we just saved you $22 ?

I'll probably go ahead and get 1 or 2 DC controllers with the QC. I don't need them right away, so the T4Free will work for me....You guys were so much help!!!

    Mark -

I ordered two of the $8 boards; I have yet to order the parts. I'm waiting for the enclosure for the DMX dongle to come in before he'll ship the rest of the order.

The dongle was "just in case" - just in case I decide to go LightShowPro. I'm going to order an iDMX1000.

Assuming I get everything together, I'll 80 channels of AC-powered LOR, 12 channels of AC-powered DMX, and 32 channels of DC-powered DMX. I also ordered 120 PCB's for an LED-based strobe.

Let me know if you want to go together on a parts order, since I've got to order parts as well. I ordered a dongle kit, but no enclosure, so I expect my order might ship out sooner. Again, a spare dongle never hurts.

To follow up, I did order 2 of the DC QC boards, a starter kit with a USB dongle and a copy of the software, along with a XLR-RJ45 cable.

Why the software? Well, I decided I better have a copy just in case. I still plan to use LSP to control everything, but having a copy of S2 Standard (not Advanced) is just future-proofing, and if S2 gets something added soon, I'll have my foot in the door. Also, with a starter pack, the cost of the SW is much less.

I'm about to drop an order with a China supplier for 100 feet of LED strips. Not like a CCR, in that each group of LEDs is RGB and individually controllable, but just like CCR in form factor. They will be single color (white) and will all light up at the same time. I'm going to use these on my snowflakes that are on the arch that came from Tanglewood in the surplus buy. Each "spoke" of the snowflake will be on a different channel, assuming I have enough channels of DC handy.

I boycotted the sale this year... Still trying to "get a grip". Not sure if I will ever purchase another LOR product... I may but not after a lot of thought. Has LOR launched that new uber PC "Chucked-up" site yet? The longer it takes the more Chucked-up it will be.... lol
