Default Forsyth County Gov sale of decorations

    Guys,
Don't know if you follow things on Planet Christmas. Winston Salem/Forsyth County has some surplus christmas decorations that they had in Tanglewood Park.

They are now selling them at surplus, and there's a group of folks on PC trying to settle it out.

I went over to the warehouse this afternoon and took pictures.

We were hoping to be able to split this up evenly, but there are just a few of certain items.

Most of this stuff uses C9 bulbs, but much of it can be retrofitted with minis or LEDs.

If you have any interest, check out the pictures in the Gov Deal thread in Buy/Sell in Dasher's Diner.

The bid has to be placed tomorrow by 2 pm.

Rather than create more havoc by putting in a reply on PC, if you have any interest in some of the items, let me know and how much you are willing to pay for them or contribute to the group. But know that there is no guarantee that we will win the bid. We are trying to be sure we come up with a good way to split the stuff.

Items can be stored locally for a few weeks, but would need to be picked up or arrange for delivery by me by the end of June.

Just thot I'd give you folks a heads-up on this.

New location - new display. Looking forward to 2015 season!

Geez Louise. The bid is up to $500 bucks on this stuff. I would like to have the snowflakes. They seem to be minis.

You might be bidding against William!

Will Glade Creek VFD need any of that stuff?

The wireframe type snowflakes are attached to the arches, I believe, and would be part of that buy.

    The metal snowflakes use C9's.

Don't know if William is bidding, but there's lots of stuff for $500 right now.

    LOL!

I do have an account already setup with them.

I wonder why Tanglewood is shedding some things off?

I would take some things... like the snowflakes.

I do know back from when I did the park display. Most of those pole decorations cost $75-$100 each so $500 is a steal.

These items have been in the warehouse for at least 2 years, so it's from the early days at Tanglewood

It looks like a lot of nice frames and arches. I have plenty to work with for the next five years after purchasing The Blue Ridge Lights Display so I really do not need anything else for a while. I just got a hot chocolate machine off of Ebay for $25.00 so we can serve our visitors this Christmas free hot chocolate without having to mix it in a coffee urn.

Neat machine ! What a great idea ... We get so many cars that if I would offer hot cocoa, we'd have grid lock. I gotta keep em moving !

The bidding got frantic at the last minute, but we won it in the end. Spent over $1400 for all that stuff. There may be some items left over after the folks that initially joined together get their part.

Larry, there are some rather large pieces that you might find useful. I doubt the most folks who do a display at their house will need some of the large size ones.

Mark, what large items are available?

Since I'm moving the display this year, I could use some.

Check the thread on PC for pictures. There were stars, circles, and the flowers/flakes that are easily 6-7' in diameter. Not sure what has been requested by all the folks, and so don't know for sure what's available.

The "metal snowflakes" are about 3 foot in diameter, and there are 60 of them. They have tabs where the C9 lights are mounted. I think these will get split up among the folks that committed a share, but they may not all have been requested. C9's are power hungry, but it's still some good bones to work with...

Just so you know, we had commitments for about $1000. To win it, we had to go beyond that, and so the plan is to sell off what is left over to make up some of that...

I can put you in touch with the guy that bid for us - he lives in Winston and works as a EMS guy. I did invite him to join us here, but hadn't seen him over here yet.

We have a large parking lot and visitors walk through our display. I don't think it would be possible to serve to visitors in cars.

Thanks Mark for thinking of me. If there is anything left we may take a look at it. Most of the wireframes that we got from Blue Ridge Lights were large animated commercial figures with C7 & C9 lights.
