    Jack,
I would be very careful about assuming that all the controllers will "pass thru" the signals untouched. I know that on the Renard based controllers, the unused pins are either tied to ground or sometimes a single pin of a pair will be untouched, and others used.

For the DC controllers that RPM designs, I haven't checked to know if he passes pins 4 and 5 on...

It's important to note that on a 5-pin XLR connector, typically used in the theatre industry, pins 4 and 5 on the XLR is the secondary DMX channel. But on the RJ45s - there's no "reserved" pins.

Jack, I have an iDMX that I bought last year. Either you can borrow it or we can have a controller test party. I'll be home in a week then we can work something out. Remind me in a couple weeks if I forget which I seem to be doing a lot lately.
