    Default Laptop

Not really display related. Since a lot of the members here are computer gurus. I am looking for a new laptop, what are your recommendations.

I love my lenovo w540 from work. They are a little older now and only available refurbished. Overall, at work, we are quite happy with all the Lenovo laptop. We also buy nicer ones than i would spend my own money on. My kids experience with dell is only fair (and a few years old now). We have a HP in the house and pleased with how it held up for light use. Battery life does not seem great (seems like a common complaint for consumer HP products).

I agree. I am still using my old Lenovo W520. The Lenovo Thinkpad series are among the best you can buy. The main reason is because the Lenovo bios is derived from the IBM bios .. the best you can buy.

And the red button in the middle of the keyboard is a better mouse than any mouse, once you learn to use it. It also has to be correctly set up in the mouse settings. Move all the setting up to the most sensitive and it's an amazing mouse.
    Thanks,

Still looking for one. Mine finally bit the dust due to a charging port issue. So all my show stuff, etch is still on there. I have been looking at the Asus computers. But the question I have now is. With LOR and eventually getting into the pi programming. What kind of video card, memory, hard drive...HDD our SDD should I get. Will windows 10 work with LOR and PI
    Any help would be appreciated

not sure about the cards, but yes windows 10 will work Thats what I run and its very user friendly. Check out the laptop options walmart.com and bestbuy.com has. I am switching all of my LOR to the desktop in my office/man cave, so the fm transmitters etc will be stationary and I can avoid plugging and unplugging the desktop is also windows 10

None of that is going to make any real difference for your Christmas stuff. Your other activities on the laptop will determine your answers. I use an 8-10 year old Dell Inspiron laptop with no issues. Lots of people use windows 10 now with no problems in the Xlights/Pi world. I have done LOR, Xlights and the Pi stuff on my old laptop. The only noticeable difference is the speed at which my Xlights files are saved and rendered in this old laptop versus my newer MacBook. Anything you buy new will solve that issue I have.
