Default 1 1/4" Megatree Pipe Cutting & Threading

The first thing I found when I called the pipe supply companies is they do not cut their pipe. It only comes in 21' lengths. And I assume I can use a hacksaw or steel blade in a jigsaw to cut the pipe. But .... Who can thread these pipes ? When I asked the pipe suppliers about threading, they did not know ! They suggested renting a threading machine or calling a plumbing company. Yipes, I can see spending more on that than the pipe itself.

I need to cut the 21' length down to 18' and add threads. Who can do this cheaply ?

Lowe's threads pipe. You could probably sweet talk them to do it.

I might have the die. I'll check. I can't remember whether my dies are that that big.

I just checked and my largest die is 1 1/4" so you are in luck. PM me with a phone number when you get your pipe. I'll come to you to thread it. Maybe I'll bring Walter so he can see how it's done. I have a reciprocating saw to cut it too.

Do you know how you are going to get the pipe home? It won't fit in a truck bed. We used a boat trailer and it worked great. If you get jammed up you can borrow mine.

If I do this stuff you have to help me steal John's CCRs. It won't be very hard because he's not too bright.

Ha ! I like the offer to help thread and cut the pipe. I have boats already on most of my trailers, but I do have one in the storage lot at Jordan Lake. I will try to get it over the next couple days and buy the pipe by Thursday. I am tied up Saturday, so I can meet you Thursday evening, Friday evening, or Sunday evening. I live off Cary Parkway, less than 1/2 mile from Kildaire Farms road. If this week is not good for you, we can pick something next week.

I am not sure what CCRs are .. but if there's no pain or jail time involved .. I'm In !

Denny, I'll send you an email with the times that I am available. CCR is LOR's Cosmic Color Ribbon. John bought 2 of them for his display. He just hook them up backwards or something and blow them up.

John, thanks to your rudeness. While we stealing your CCRs, I might even bring my dogs to let them pee on the rest of your decorations. I might even help them.

    Mike -

I couldn't find it on Lowe's web site, but can we order the 21' 1-1/4" pipe through Lowe's? My local store up the street only goes to 10' in stock. I have a place about 12 miles away I can get it, but if I can get away with transporting something too big for my truck only 2 miles, I'd probably rather do that.

do you have a trailer hitch on your turck if you do transport longer skinny items under the truck instead of on top no need to risk scratchs.iknow this sounds rednecky but it works real good.have good rope will travel.

Jack, you can borrow my sail boat trailer. That is what I use to carry 20' steel. It works great. I have a 2x2 receiver hitch with the correct ball size too.

Mike, I guess you mean pilfering John's stuff? Naaahhh. Look at the date---2009. I don't need to drive that far to steal CCRs now that Mel has more CCRs than John. Mel has a Virtual Santa that my dogs like too. If you want to help me steal Mel's then I'm always hunting for ninjas.
