    Default Pixel Arch designs

    I'm trying to make sure I understand what I need to create pixel arches. I know there are multiple ways to build the arches themselves. Here are my rough numbers and the logic behind it. Please let me know if this is correct or not. Thanks!!!

    pixel strips are 30 LEDs/meter - double pixel metrics for 60 LEDs/meter
    Most examples for arches show a 10' pipe for making the arch (10' = ~3m)
    This generates an arch roughly 3' high and 6' wide
    Assuming the numbers above, each arch will need 90 pixels
    90 pixels means 270 channels
    2 arches is 540 channels
    Since each universe is 512 (really 510) channels, each arch is it's own universe.
    Without running wires all over the yard, I can run 3 or 4 arches in a row from a single 6804 controller and power supply.
    --> If I do run wires all over the yard, I can have a F16V2 (Falcon 16 channel pixel controller) and just make sure that the voltage on each run doesn't go below what I need to power each universe/arch

    Therefore, I can run something like this:

    -screen-shot-2016-02-06-8.30.28-pm.jpg

    If I only want 3 arches, just remove one of the ones to the far left or far right.

    How's that so far?

    Default Pixel Arch designs

    Check out my post under Christmas Carolina > decorating discussions > diy > PEX pipe and pixel leaping arches for how i did my arches based on the design from Moody Family Christmas. It's a 10' pipe but it's cut down to fit a 15M strip = two arches.

    Gotcha... (PEX pipe & pixel strip leaping arches)

    So you use the 15m strips.

    Math says:
    7.5m per arch
    * 30 pixels per meter
    = 225 pixels per arch
    * 3 channels per pixel
    = 675 channels per arch

    Is that right? Doesn't seem like it can be if you're using one universe of the 6804 for every two arches. Seems like even the two arches wouldn't be right as it would be 550 channels. What math am I doing wrong? Is the 30 pixels per meter already tripled?

    Something's wrong with that. For mine it was 150 LEDs per strip but only 50 pixels per strip. 1 strip makes two arches so each arch = 25 pixels.

    Yes.
    Total LEDs per Strip: 150 of 5mm x 5mm (5050) RGB LED Lights
    Total Individually Controllable Sections per Strip: 50 Sections (10 per meter) - each 4" in length, contain 3 RGB LED lights per section
    Total DMX channels required: 150 DMX Channels (50 sections, each with three channels - Red, Green, Blue)

    Ok, so it's already "tripled" in the original metrics. Got it... How wide do your version of the arches end up? Each one individually, not all four together.

    Oh I don't remember. I used a ruler and moved the blocks till they were 30" high but I don't recall if I measured how long they ended up. I'd have to pull one out and measure it.

    One set of my 4 arches are laid out exactly like your diagram Scott. I use 25 pixel modules on mine and they work out great! Now the way I do it is use a 10' piece of grey plastic electrical conduit and screw the modules right to the front of each one. The only down side of doing it this way is the lights are only viewable from the front side. But this works out great for me because my display is 200' from the road. I don't have any pics right off but I can dig some up. The pixel modules i'm referring to are like these. I think you have your pixel question answered but just in case anyone is confused. A 5m roll with 30 led/m has only 10 addressable "pixels" per meter. 60 leds/m has 20 pixels/m.
    Here is my arch plan that I haven't started building yet. I got 2 5m rolls of 60/m which is 200 total pixels. I plan to make 4 arches where each will have 50 pixels and be just over 8 ft in length. This will make an arch about 3 ft high and around 4.5 ft wide. I can't have tall arches because the location is above other elements because of the ground slope. I am going to use HDPE from McMaster Carr. I'll let everyone know before I get it in case you want to add to my order.

    You can buy them many different configurations.

    30 LEDs per meter (10 pixels per meter) - like a CCR
    30 LEDs per meter (30 pixels per meter) - I am pretty sure this is what Paul Lowe has.
    60 LEDs per meter (20 pixels per meter) - I think I've seen this one but could not find it quickly today.
    60 LEDs per meter (60 pixels per meter) - Link below for this one. You can cut the length at any LED.
