Naw, order more LEDs from Paul at CDI on the January presale. I have 600 and something strings of Paul's FWR LEDs almost all 50 count (some 100 ct) at an average price of only $7.00 per string. Already working on my list of what I'll order from Paul next January

Not to hijack the thread but at $7 a string compared to say $1 per string, do you think you have made your money back in electricity costs?

Electricity Cost - No Way. But that's not why I prefer LEDs (although the savings is nice)

Two big reasons for me to use LEDs.

Power Capacity - I was faced with having to consider a major power upgrade a few years ago in order to grow my display. Most of the bids were in the $4500 - $5000 price range. If I sell the house in a few years, that investment in outdoor infrastructure would be lost. Figured I could buy a lot of LEDs for that kind of money and use them anywhere. PLUS - Using only (2) 15 amp outlets to run 288 LOR channels last year was very nice. (about 70% were LEDs, planning on 85-90% this year)

Maintenance - LEDs are very durable. Since most of my display is lights on wireframes and display elements, it is so nice to set it up, plug it in and it works!!! I store most of my display off site, transporting takes a toll on the mini lights, falling out, breaking, etc

My 4th July display has not been converted to LEDs, yet. I spent over 6 hours this past week (temps were still over 90 degrees at 9:00 o'clock at night ) tracking down loose, broken, and burnt out bulbs. The 9 1/2 foot firecracker uses almost 800 bulbs by itself. Every single group of 50 bulbs had some kind of problem, so nothing worked. Most problems were due to broken or missing bulbs, due to transporting to and from storage. I did strip some off and replaced with LEDs because I was getting frustrated with trouble shooting. Replaced some of the lights on another patrioic frame with LEDs also.

Eventually I'll have everything LED and can spend more time bulding new stuff then trying to maintain the silly mini's. Over 30,000 lights requires a lot of maintenance, in my opinion.

Every year it seems the wind picks up while setting up my megatree. The lights get blown against the pole, etc - incadescents would be shattered, requiring even more time to trouble shoot and repair. The LEDs take a licking and keep on ticking. With 128 strings on my megatree for this year, that could be a disaster if using regular minis.

I did use mini's at first, got a lot of bulbs for minimum expense, but now the maintenace is a bugger bear and so every year I add more LEDs and faze out the mini's. That's why I donated the 60 something boxes of new mini lights at the Carolina mini as door prizes.

This is what works for me. Each persons situation could/will be different.

Now back to Walter's request - looks like he is taking all of what Mark and I have to offer.

Shipping won't be cheap. Just think Walter. If you would have thought about this about 3 weeks ago your shipping would be free. =)

    Brad,

Do you have lights you want to sell to Walter? I haven't seen you post any. Tell him what you have. Then if Walter prefers to buy from you, and not what I offered, I'm fine with that.

I have no clue. I wouldn't want to sell you any used ones. I think he should take you up on your offer. I will be at my parents house tomorrow and I can look for new ones if you think you still need more.

I went out to the shed and found out that the tub I thought was full of clear mini's was NOT. It appears that I have purple mini's, and some Lowe's gold (20-30 boxes), and some target gold (at least 10 boxes), but not much clear.

Guess that tub that I brought to the Carolina Mini was the last full tub of clear...

I've sent Walter a PM as well, but wanted to let everyone else know.

Time for a full inventory, so I can buy the right stuff on clearance!
