Default Time To Float An Idea

Wanted to float an idea past the home team before taking it to other forums. I know there are a few that like the music they used to be edited down. This can be a very daunting experience if you have never done it before. Some of you may want songs cut down but don't have the time or the knowledge. Would anyone be interested in having your songs edited for you? I have no idea what price point to put this at, so I thought I'd open it up to suggestion. Would $15 per song be too much? Or should i put packages together like i did for the voiceovers?

    Thanks

    Interesting idea, Kevin

Pricing ? $15 might be a little high to just delete a slow start from a song, but might not be enough if someone only wants 2 or 3 minutes out of the middle of a song. Just thinking about the possible combinations of editing that might be required or requested.

If you did a package of songs, maybe throw in some volume EQ of the package similar to the results that MP3Gain would provide.

Or offer a 5 or 10 sec VO intro to the song?

Maybe just some things for you to consider

I've been rethinking this idea and want to put it back on the table. After thinking about it here is what I've come up with....

$10 per song 5 songs for $40. this would include normalizing the files to 0 db I can use MP3 gain or Audition to normalize them. That would be customer's choice.

    What do you think?

I think it is a great idea, Kevin.

Still a little concerened (for you) if someone wanted only the center part of the song (chopping the beginning and the end, or cutting out part of the center of the song, leaving the intro and ending). Would you still be OK at these price points with this kinds of editing??

John are you thinking prices too high or too low?

    Kevin,

I think 5 for $40 is very fair.

I was concerned that if everyone wanted "special editing" on all 5 of their songs, would that be fair for you.

example: I have a song, total lenght 5:40. I would like to keep the the first 2:07 and the last 1:40. The other four songs would just be a simple chop off the intro and fade into the remaining song or shorten by doing a fade out after say 2 min or so. So that would be 4 "simple" edits and 1 "special" edit.

But if all 5 I submitted to you were "special" edits, then $40 would be too low, in my opinion.

    Your call.

I'll give you some business Kevin. Year before last ran me crazy trying to normalize the song. Kevin, I have a spool of SPT2 for you if you still want it.
