    Default Raleigh area meeting agenda

The agenda for the meeting on July 25, 2009 is starting to shape up. This will change with time and participation but this is a good guess. All times other than the start time are guesses. I am projecting 2 hours but that is a number I pulled out of the air. If you have something you would like to talk about please PM me or post it here.

2pm Meet and Greet. Everybody introduces themselves.
2:15pm Recent advances in Servo and RGB fixture Control --Al
2:30pm High power mod to a PC controller--Walter
2:45pm High power SSR interface -- Walter
3:00pm Recent advances in DIY technology--Al and somebody that knows more about it than me.
3:15pm LOR controlled propane fueled fire nozzles-- Mel Welch
3:30pm Question and answer session about anything. There will be people there that can answer just about any question.
    4:00pm end

The place is Ridge Road Baptist Church. 2011 Ridge Road, Raleigh, 27607
The cost is free. Please bring anything you are proud of and want to share with us.
The date is July 25, 2009

William could you make this original post editable for about 2 weeks so the starting post of the thread will have current information?
    Thanks,
    Al

Al, it's a user setting. To read lastest post first or the oldest.

I can edit the first one to include a link to this one.

Mel has really set the tone very high!

Look like it's going to be a nice meeting.

I doubt if I'll make it. We will see.

I dont think the area we will be in has any. If wireless will work I can bring my unit. I know there is a connection in the office.

    William,
There are no connections in that area. I'll have my wireless card and server. if all else fails Walter can hook up another wifi connection.

I don't know if the card will work. I don't have a pcmcia slot on my mini 9.

I'll bring my access point and hopefully connect it to the router hub.

I have a server for my wireless card. This is it:
    http://kyocerawireless.com/kr1-router/

With this Deb and I both can use it simultaneously away from home. The upload throughput is about half of a cable modem.

Thanks Walter. We'll figure out the wifi stuff during your days off next week.

Mark S. has volunteered to show us the new Lynx Express Card (DIY stuff). The lynx express is very similar to the LOR PC series controller and costs only $65 which is 1/2 the LOR cost. I'm sure that will get your attention. I wish we could get our hands on a couple of those wireless network modules--maybe for our next meeting. Mark is going to show us the new Light Show Pro software. Now that is neat software. It allows cross platform programming (LOR, Animated Lighting, DIY, D light). It also is a little more powerful than the S2 software.

I'll take it up one more notch if someone can bring their USB-RS485 LOR dongle (not the iDMX1000). If I can get one of the dongles, I'll hookup an LOR controller, an AL controller, and the Lynx Express on three separate connections and talk to them all via Light Show Pro in the same sequence.

A recent LSP release put out the beta of the AL output plug-in, and LSP already talks to LOR and DMX controllers.
