I'll bring a 12 pack of cola and a 12 pack of diet cola; whatever is on sale at the local purveyor of said product.

Charity is a professional cook who likes to bake; any specific requests? What she'd be willing to do will depend on whether or not our local Lions club calls for a work day that day (hot/cold dish issue, and if there is an event, if it gets snagged there) and whether or not she gets employed again by then.

Thank you guys for shouldering responsibilities. I knew I was hanging around with the right crowd. Walter, we have stuff left over from the Bday parties that we can use like plasticware, cups, etc. Let's look through that stuff during your next time off from work.

I will hold off to see what we need. So far it looks like we need some food !

I always recommend that at least 50% of us bring something cooked (Horse Ovaries, Sheep Dip, etc). That helps to avoid ending up with 12 varieties of chips and dip.

    Mel -

Pecan cookies, or pecan pie? Butter pecan cake? She has a few pounds of pecans she can use. I have to warn you that she puts pecan chunks in the cake, though; I know some people don't like that. She also does a great carrot cake, a double-fudge chocolate coca-cola cake (loosely, very loosely based on Cracker Barrel's recipe) Also something called coconut diamonds. All sorts of things that crumble and short out electronics, but makes you want to do it more.
Doesn't have to be anything sweet, though. She mentioned she could do something in a crock pot; I got her one a while back that seals for travel. Soups/chili are possible. Walter is already doing a spinach dip; no need to duplicate on that.

Off topic... My favorite cake of all time is a "Tunnel of Fudge" cake.... If she has that recipe I would love to get it....

She said she'd rather do a cake and/or a pie than cookies. "Tunnel of Fudge", huh? She says she's never heard of it. But then, many of the things she's now making were asked of her like this. Quick glance at several of the recipes makes it look like something similar to a Paula Dean recipe she's done; a "chocolate gooey" - just from the description. Any links to a website with a particular recipe? I've found several, it's always best to get as close as possible to the one you have in mind.

Also, it's not off topic - topic is "TASL Food List For Feb. 20th " - this is discussing food wanted at the TASL get together.

Thank everyone for helping with the food. I will update the list tonight of in the morning. The snow had me staying at work from Friday till Monday night. I like the idea of having some hot foods and not just all chips and cookies.

I am leaning towards bringing a chicken pie, unless something better strikes me.

I've got two different ideas for stuff to bring, but it depends on the numbers we're expecting. Is it just the 8 people shown above or are we expecting more like 20 or more to attend?

    Thanks!!!
