Default Next Triangle Area Syncronized Lighting (TASL) Meeting

Let's plan the next TASL meeting. Each time I ask the question of when to hold the meeting I get dozens of answers. May I suggest we hold the meeting Saturday, Feb 20, 2010 at 1pm. The place will likely be at my church (same place as the last meeting). I paid $125 in facilities expenses to host the last meeting and will pay that again unless somebody offers an alternative.

    Possible agenda topics.
    1) what we did really right and really wrong this past year. The presenter is open and would appreciate suggestions
    2) Should we design and build our own control equipment. This may be an outside discussion for the engineers that attend.
    3) ServoDogs and servos (my favorite controller). I will present for this topic
    4) Scheduling workshops to build wireframes, megatree stuff, Bethlehem Star, etc
    5) Traffic and crowd control. Denny you might want to present for this.
    6) Unique things we made this year. Vic, I would love to see your star. Mel, your CCR star is mandatory. Walter, your Bethlehem Star should be a hit. I have only mentioned a few people and would love for others to bring their pride and joys to share. If you would like to share email me with your project so I can make sure to have space available.
    7) Lynx Express and DIY stuff. Mark I would appreciate for you to attend and discuss the Lynx Express. Pretty please. Pretty, pretty please. Walter has a lot of experience with the DIY and LOR interfacing too.
    7) Other items that need to be shared. This is our group and the more we help each other the better we will be.

I'm good with that date. It's locked and loaded on the official refrigerator calendar ! I "third" the motion to pass the hat on meeting expenses. The agenda looks great. I can pull something together for the Crowd Control topic. As for building our own controllers, I suggest we summarize the objectives and also see how much interest there might be. Then we can revisit the technical side of that topic after the main meeting. That way we can try to make some high level decisions. LOR will be offering their best discounts in March if they follow last year's schedule. I'd like to decide whether (or not) to build or buy more.

We might want to consider creating a food plan - - pot luck Horse Ovaries and beverages. The meeting might last a while !
    Thanks,

    Al -

Do you have a PayPal account? I'm willing to kick in ahead of time. Charity and I are planning to be there, and I may be able to drag along a few newbies.

    Hi Jack,

Yes I do but I would prefer not to use it. If you guys are serious we can pass the hat at the meeting to help defray the facilities cost. You guys are great for offering to help.

I've tried to find other facilities but one with enough space and power outlets hasn't materialized. So, my church is the best candidate. The church charges for non-church related functions to help defray the electrical costs, janitor, etc. I think it is fair.

Again, you guys are great. Thanks.

Not a problem; I was just thinking of doing it ahead of time, so as much money as possible wouldn't ocme out of your pocket.

The places I have available would probably work, except no Internet, and I'd rather it be me and mine taking a car or two to your church than all of you heading out to Pittsboro or Moncure. It's about a 30 mile drive.

Looks like this date will work for me to come to Raleigh. Especially since Al asked so nicely for me to discuss the Lynx Express. I'll plan a show and tell, as well as a presentation on the current state of things around the LE, and some other options. Hopefully by then, I'll have my DMX DC controller built and will bring my "Mighty Mini" LED floods from DIYC (doityourselfchristmas.com).

I'll also be willing to show off LightShowPro as a sequencing tool. I used it this year (no videos, though) to run my show and mixed environment of DMX and AL controllers.

It is exciting to hear so many new people are interested in our hobby.

However due to my schedule I will not be able to attend a meeting until April.

    The agenda for the meeting:

    1) What we did really right and really wrong this past year with your display. I will lead this discussion
    2) Traffic and crowd control. Denny will present
    3) Lynx Express and DIY stuff. Mark will present and discuss his display using Lynx Express.
    4) ServoDogs and servo control. I will present and demo my Singing and Dancing Pumpkins.
    5) Scheduling workshops to build wireframes, megatree stuff, Bethlehem Star, S2 software, LSP, etc
    6) Unique things we made this year. Vic, please bring your star. Mel, your CCR star is mandatory. Walter is bringing his Bethlehem Star. I have only mentioned a few people and would love for others to bring their pride and joys to share.

Would someone volunteer to coordinate the food and drinks? There is no cost for the meeting and first timers are welcome. If you would like to donate food or drinks please let us know. Help from the group setting up and tearing down will be greatly appreciated.
