Announcing the FIRST meeting of 2020 for the Triangle Area Synchronized Lighting group.

Date and Time: Saturday February 29, 2020 9am - 4pm (setup and goofing around starts 8am)

Place: Ruth's Taylor's Building between Cary and Jordan Lake.

The agenda will be growing and changing so check back often. Also feel free to send your suggestions. We want to plan a mix of topics covering the basics for our newer members, as well as pixel related topics and other common interest topics.

9:00 - 10:00am INTRODUCTIONS - Meet new members and what they are doing with their displays.

• What are your plans for 2020 ?
• Do you need and hands on help for 2020 ?

11:00 - Noon NON-PIXEL SESSION 1 - Tips and Tricks (everybody)

• Keep cables together with prop or label cables by location and not by controller channel

4:00 Pack Up, Fold the Chairs and Tables, Sweep the floor.

I will arrive between 8:00am and 8:15am for unloading and setup. We'll use the first hour to mingle and get set up. Swing in early for coffee .. Introductions starting 9:00am. We will hold an important business meeting at the end and then teardown and cleanup the room.

This is a POT LUCK LUNCH meeting. Please let us know what you will bring to share. Be sure to check what others are bringing so we can get a range of main dishes, side dishes and deserts. I'll bring the plates, flatware and drink cups using TASL funds.

Optionally feel free to bring breakfast snacks to share !

Be sure to bring your own drinks for the day. Drinks in coolers OK. There is no kitchen or stove, but there is electricity. Plan accordingly.

This meeting is open to ANYONE who would like to participate, or just listen in for their first time. It is a good time for new members to sign up to be a TASL member for 2020. You do not have to be a TASL member to attend a TASL meeting. If you are thinking about creating your first holiday show with synchronized lights and music, you can join a TASL meeting to learn more about how its done. Come on out and join us! If you are bringing friends or other family members, please make sure you post their names when you acknowledge your attendance.

We always have a location available for an informal Christmas Garage sale throughout the day. Bring cash if you are looking for deals. Bring your items to sell or trade. There are usually some nice deals and giveaways !

I like em all ! I still hope to get a couple PI players running one day, but it's not my immediate need.

Does anyone make any really tiny pixel bulbs yet ? Like about the size of the fairy lights ?

Yes they do but are not waterproof. If someone really wanted to they could waterproof them themselves. They are a basically 2812 fairy lights. Lets see if this link works.

I think having a discussion about storage, tips and tricks, etc - especially if there are any new people looking for more information - would be beneficial.

I have a friend who's son is interested in attending. I am sending her the information now so she can let me know if they can attend.

The link worked .. I appreciate the reference. Just some thoughts I have for the future. I wish they were smaller and 12v or even 24v. But it's a good start.

Holy Smokes .. I sure want that one !!! I am still holding several Pi and a BBB. I installed one of them during our telecon tutorial but could never get it to work after that.

I'm going to try and make it. It's been very busy lately.

I have a box full of IEC cables that were going to be thrown away. I'll bring them if anyone needs power cords. You just cut off the female end, saves you $8 a piece from lowes.
