I just added Mel Welch as a presenter in making and editing videos of a display. Dude, I've waited on this one.

Has anyone ever presented on using Audacity or other audio editing programs at meetings in the past?

It depends on how much it's been touched on. If it was just lightly, then it's no big deal, I've got the basic stuff figured out. If it was fairly in-depth and there is a resident expert, then I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Audacity is one of the converters that I use along with a couple other lesser programs. Mark, are you planning on coming to the August meeting? Maybe we can con Mark into doing a class. I know Denny knows a lot about audio conversion too.

    Al -

Based on a comment from Sam and a few questions from Roger, do you think we have the outside room to set up a couple of partial megatrees? I'm thinking without lights, or maybe just a string or two on them.

I've got my 10' PVC one, with wooden top. (Actually, I have 2 of them) While I don't think a 20 foot megatree would be practical to set up, a shorter pole should work to show how to work the knuckle, top, crank, etc.

I think it would help a number of people, especially if we showed some working megatree videos inside to show sequence samples.

Considering I've never seen a mega tree in person, this would help me out quite a bit. I've been working with my father on a design for the center pole / shuttle mechanism, but we are having issues with how the guys should be anchored, and what to use as a base (being portable, either a concrete block with a hole, or the spoke design like Daryll sells).

I too have problems sequencing something which i don't have in front of me. I'm only doing one color this year, but after browsing videos online, have only come up with about 8 different effects for the tree. I know there can be much much more.

Yes, we have the room. I don't think anyone will care. Who wants to volunteer to present on megatree stuff.

I will volunteer my 10' tree made from PVC. That hardware is very simple and is self-explanatory once seen. Light strings get staked into the ground, which can trip GFI's in damp environments, but it's simple. I don't have my 21' one ready - my knuckle is currently still in the same build condition it was when we closed out the welding workshop. The only other part of that I have is the winch, which wouldn't take much to mount onto a pipe. I can Macgyver the same structure Roger and I came up for a pole-top pulley, but it's not pretty. It is functional, though.

    Roger -

Do you still have that 10' section of chain link top that was part of your as-purchased pole?

Any interest in FM transmitter antennas? I'll volunteer Roger for this one; he's now going to be doing the reverse of his former interstate commuting job and will be telecommuting by the time this comes around. I think he said he even has an FM band SWR meter. Roger, please say this isn't your Florida weekend (not a professional thing there!)
