August 4, 2012 (Saturday) 9am to 5pm
October 18, 2012 (Thursday) 5pm-10 PM
Place:
Swift Creek Community Center
6221 Yates Mill Pond Rd
Raleigh NC, 27606
Meals:
Charity will be cooking cook dinner for the weeknight meetings at a cost of $7.50-$10 depending on what we want. Dinner depends on how many people participate, accordingly as the event draws near we will get a headcount for dinner. The weekend meetings will be covered dishes supplied by the attendees. Someone in the group will post a list for folks to sign up to bring things. The weekend meeting lunch has traditionally been very nice and great fun. If there is enough interest, Charity could supply lunch for the weekend events.
Who may attend:
The simple answer is anyone. TASL currently has no dues and welcomes everyone. Our goal is to advance Christmas lighting in the Triangle Area. We believe strongly in teaching, sharing, and socializing. We welcome all for our meetings but plan events mainly for the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) area of North Carolina.
Why would you want to attend:
Basically, if you want to learn more about Christmas lighting and meet people in the Triangle area with displays then you should attend.
Costs:
Since TASL doesn't have dues (currently), we usually pass the hat to cover the facility costs which are usually $30 for a weeknight meeting and $100 for a Saturday meeting. If lunch or dinner is served and you participate then there is a separate cost for that. If we have a weekend pot lunch style lunch, you should bring a covered dish. Weekend potluck lunches are at no cost.
Schedule of presenters/presentations:
The weeknight meetings are more informal than the weekend meetings. We usually have formal presentations for both weekend and weeknight meetings and the schedule will be posted closer to the event. We have a wide range of presentations with training in software, hardware, and general display topics.
Welding Workshops:
Now this is a fun event. We will cut, drill, and weld steel for one or two specific items. This is a very inexpensive way to gain an expensive item like a Walter Star or Bang Star. The schedule for the welding workshops will be announced a little later. The welding workshops are held at a different location.
Persons to contact for more information:
