Default NC Triangle area Coffee Time July 25th

If you are anywhere near the Raleigh area let's get together on July 25th. I am trying to pick a time that would accommodate everybody. Currently that looks like 2pm at my church's fellowship hall. If you know of a better place PM me or post here. We had a get together before Christmas last year and it was fun. William Bottomley has provided us with a brand new website just for us Carolina people (thank you William) . As he mentioned in another thread it is called ChristmasCarolina.com.

The details for the get together will be posted there. We have so many people in the Raleigh/Triangle area that share our hobby. Register yourself and let's help each other to advance our hobby. More details will be posted later.

I hope to see you on the 25th.

Thanks Carl. The forum's database crash did cause a couple problems. If you posted to the forum before please do so again.

Yes, we are current going to get together at 2pm at my church's fellowship hall. If somebody has a better location please contact me. I will post the exact location in a couple weeks but it will be relatively near Crabtree Mall.

Walter and I will be building his megatree and Bethlehem star (and 1 for me) in the next month or so. The star will be welded with C9 lights. If anybody is interested in seeing us put them together please contact me. We plan to talk about our personal displays at the meeting. There will a couple experienced people there that can answer about any question that you many have.

    See yall next month,
    Al

    Al,
I may try and get over on the 25th.

I do have some interest in the Bethlehem star and how it's getting put together.

    Hey Mark,
Well when we figure it out we will let you know. We want to make a star that uses c9s and is made of steel rod. We searched for a long time for a method to hold the c9s to the rod. I got some samples of a special plastic holder from a company in Texas (dang I can't remember their name--John will remember) and they look to be exactly what we need. This baby will be light, collapsible, and allow wind to pass through and not be a sail. I got me a welder (this is where I get to do the "I finally got me a welder dance") last year and have been waiting on putting the baby to use. I think I have it figured out but we shall see. Either way we all will benefit.

Not me. I wasn't planning on going to PLUS either.

The get together in Raleigh will not be a mini as we know it. It is more of a no agenda get together where we learn about each other. Also, we can share items that we planning or currently working on. This is our second meeting, the first was shortly before Christmas last year. Our area has a great deal of people with talents that can help us all. For instance, I was having trouble with the ELLs (LOR's Easy Light Linkers) that I bought last year. After talking it over with William I knew that I needed to change the frequency and a couple other things. On a forum that might not have been possible. Sometimes, we need to talk face to face. I know of a couple newbies that will at our meeting. This is a golden opportunity for them. They have access to people with all levels of experience.

Also, everybody that ordered on the SPT group buy can pick it up if you want.

    Hi Don,

I'm still waiting on confirmation of using my church. I hope it will be today. When it does then I'll post the location.

I just got confirmation that I can use my church's fellowship hall. They want me to pay for the usage so I will, and it will be my treat. However, we will certainly make a line item to discuss another place to hold our meetings. I want this to be the beginning of something really good and am willing to make sure it will happen.

    Here is the information:

    Place:
Ridge Road Baptist Church's Fellowship Hall (back left side of the campus)
    2011 Ridge Road, Raleigh 27607

    Date and Time:
    Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 2pm

    Agenda:
    TBD

Please post what you guys want to talk about. I have a couple suggestions.

    1) a cheap place to meet
    2) group buys
    3) exciting things that we are working on
    4) a name for our group
    5) possible "classes" for our newbies on how to make stuff (this is a big deal)
    6) the RBG, LOR, and DIY future of our hobby.
    7) funny stuff about Walter and everybody else that can't make it.

If you want to make a presentation please do so. This is our meeting. Let's make it a good one.

If you need to PM me and I will give you my cell phone number.
Ridge Road Baptist is easy to get to. Take the Inner belt line to Lake Boone. Head east toward Ridge Road (away from Lake Boone)
Go to the next stop light and turn left.
Go 1 1/2 blocks. You can't miss the church on the left.
