I figured we would be watching it in black and white. Oh wells. I do wonder what all is going on and if anyone lost their eyebrows yet.
Well, the meeting went good or at least I think it did. Mark S did a great job on presenting the DIY stuff. I did a presentation on RGB fixtures and servos/control. Mel W. did showed his fire breathing dragon and nothing caught fire even though I tried to get him to hold it next to Walter's shorts. Walter did a demo (hah) on the D-light Servo8 and Firefly (double hah).
Michael H volunteered to host the next meeting. What a guy. He's got my vote for man of the year.
I did get some video of Mel's dragon. I am not sure it is any good due to my funky camera. If it didn't turn out then you should have been here--and don't whine with "I ain't driving 1000 miles for 2 hours". Pffttt.
We're planning another meeting soon that will include S2 programming and other stuff.
And John, you're just jealous that you have one of those puny little girly cameras called "HandyCam" or "GirlyCam" or whatever instead of a manly 25 pound, rocket launcher sized, 8 track camcorder like mine. It takes a real man just to carry mine. Click Click.
Al
You know I didn't get a head count. I would say 15-20 which is a good start.
That's pretty good for a 2 hour meeting.
So did you at least promote CC to non CC members?
I did and I think most everybody (or a spouse) was a member.
Many thanks to Al and his wife for hosting this meeting today and providing the snack food. It was a very informative and relaxed gathering. It was very nice to finally meet some of the authors of the many posts I read on ChristmasCarolina and PlanetChristmas. I also enjoyed the presentations by Al, Mark, Walter and Mel (a.k.a. Mr. Flame Thrower). Thank you all for your efforts. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed today's meeting and are looking forward to the next one.

Lets try to schedule the next one after the CCR from LOR has shipped. I will be glad to bring mine...
I would make the drive.
Sooooo can I see the video?
I'll even take fire in black and white anyday![]()
Al , you and your wife did a super job on hosting our first Raleigh meeting. This is something I have been wanting to see for a many year. Mike is a great friend of mind and I have agreed to help him on our next meeting. All of you will love the site we have for the next meeting which has audio visual and internet and other things that we will have excess too.
Don't know when, because we are getting closer to the season and time for all of us to start putting our displays up. I know it takes at least 12 weeks for mind, and Mike helps me and I help him. I may need to add 1 more week because of our special program we will be doing.
Mel, thanks for all the info on your flames !!!! I will have some built with in a couple of weeks. They will be perfect for our program. Plus it was great talking with you.
It was great meeting everyone and great seeing our hobby progress like it has. I have been flashing lights since I was a kid and have gotten a lot of people into this hobby and I will have to say you have some of the best friends you can ever have.
I don't post a lot but maybe this meeting will change that.
Again Al you did a great Job and thanks to all the others on your presentation as well.

Lake Myra Christmas
Just wanted to say thank you and that I had a great time at the meeting today.
Thank you Al, Mark, Mel and Walter. You did a wonderful job. I really learned alot and everyone was so friendly.
I got a little lost durring Marks presentation being a newb. That was some high tech stuff for sure. I especially liked the wireless controller add on. I wish LOR had something that simple and cost effective.
The servo demo along with Al's slideshow was very interesting.
I have to say I liked Mel's "great balls of fire" most. Very simple and safe. I'm hoping to have a few put together in the next 2 weeks.
Thanks again,
Those cookies were awesome by the way,
Can't wait til the next meeting...

RED MOUNTAIN LIGHTS
Vic,
Don't worry about getting lost - those of us that have been doing this for awhile start throwing around terms that we use all the time, and we forget how it is when starting out as a newb.
In any case, if you've got any questions, don't hesitate to ask here. There's lots of us that are more than glad to explain it and use English and "s-p-e-a-k slowly" as necessary.
Always glad to have another Christmas Light "crazy" to join us in the asylum!
Mark
New location - new display. Looking forward to 2015 season!
