Default TASL Coffee Meeting Wednesday Oct 6, 2010

The TASL (Triangle Area Synchronized Lighting) group will be meeting at Starbucks on Lake Boone Trail in Raleigh at 7pm. If you have not attended a meeting of our group, this is a perfect opportunity. This will be one of our informal meetings, and we will discuss anything and everything about our displays. We will try to get the conference room but may just pull up chairs outside or inside. This really is an informal meeting. If you have questions about S2 software bring a laptop and ask your questions. As a matter of fact, bring any questions that you may have. One question that must be answered at this meeting, will we host the 2011 convention in Raleigh? Other than that one question, the agenda is totally open.

Here is how to get to Starbucks.

Al, Let me say as a newb to the hobby, the individual attention I recieved to my questions at the TASL meets is what really got my engine started in our hobby.

Vic, you took to this stuff like a baby duck takes to water. Your first attempt at being really creative with your star design was a big hit. The very first meeting we ever had, I had a huge problem with my display's ELLs that William knew how to fix. I have learned lots from the meetings. One thing about this hobby is that it is almost impossible for a single person to know it all about our hobby.

After the season is over or maybe during, I will make another appearance in the Triangle.

You're welcome Evan but I should remind you that this is a coffee meeting and no formal presentations are being made. However, we do fix our problems and show off our new stuff during these meetings. It allows us to talk as a group and kick out ideas. I really enjoy these meetings. I hope to see you there.

Just a reminder that the TASL meeting is this coming Wednesday. Denny is revealing at the meeting the surprise that he and I have been working on. It will remain a surprise for everybody except the TASL folks until around Thanksgiving. We will use the "Cone of Silence" to insure that the secret is not revealed until Thanksgiving. We plan to do a white paper with a detailed drawing on it after Christmas.

Right Chief . Our secret has been carefully guarded by 50 security guards and a bloodhound.
    .
    .
OK ... Would you believe it's guarded by a rabid boyscout ?
    .
    .
How about my next door neighbors really mean babysitter ?

    OK .. here's a clue:

Mine each have 15 channels driving exactly 1385 minis. Incandescent of course !

Some of the minis are mounted on removable light segments. The rest are mounted on 1/4" rod clips.

Here's a picture of a light segment and a closeup of the center of the "thing."

Ok, here is a hint. It isn't earth shattering just a reproduction of something that we saw and liked. We did use a slightly different spin on how the lights are wrapped.
