    Default 12 volt power supply

Need opinion and advice. I'm building a box with 2 LOR DC cards for a 12 volt 30 channel project. (Actually will build two of them)

I bought these neat little 12 volt power supplies from MPJA that are rated at 3.5 amps each. Just received them today. The one in the case is sku 18234 PS and was priced at 12.95 each. I think I got the last of them, when I ordered the inventory said 3, I ordered all 3, then received a phone call from MPJA saying they could only find 2 of them.

The open frame is also rated at 3.5 amps and is sku 16741 PS priced at 6.95 each.

My question is, my project will have short occasional peak power draws of 3.8 amps, with 2.38 amps as the nominal draw. Would I be safe in using only one power supply in each case instead of two?

If I understand you correctly (my lawyers want me to do this) you want to over current this for how long? I have NOT reverse engineered these supplies. My business is interfering in my pursuit of happiness. In my outhouse opinion, John, my friend, I would not. My lawyers said to tell you to buy an adequate supply and quit being cheap.

    Thanks Al,

Somehow I figured that would be the correct answer.

OK, I'll buy some more of the smaller open frame supplies at 6.95 each and use two supplies and two LOR DC cards in each box. The most one card would draw from one power supply would be 2.4 amps.

And I'll send your lawyer the bill for the extra 13.90 he just cost me. Or I'll try to work out a way to use one open frame and one enclosed supply in a case with 2 LOR cards, for a little extra room.

I can't give an answer because I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I understand William. I didn't either, that's why I had to ask the question.

Even Al had to go out to the outhouse and ask his lawyers for the answer.
