    Default RGB LEDs cheap

A group buy is going on at DoItYourselfChristmas.com for RGB LEDs for 18 cents each +shipping (not known). These are raw LEDs and will require protection from the elements. They have a source for a clear cap for 11 cents each that will make the LED water resistant. This requires soldering but these are really bright LEDs. If you are making a custom display piece and want to save a bunch of money this might be a good idea.
    Here is the spec sheet.

    Default Re: RGB LEDs cheap

I'm getting 200 of the LEDs and 200 of the caps, just to play with.

Now, be aware that this is really DIY, cause you have to basically build the string of lights by soldering to each LED 6 times. And you have to somehow protect the LED from the elements, and you have to run 3 wires back to the plug end of the wire to complete the circuit.

And given that these are just LEDs, and they're all in series, so it still requires a controller to turn on the LEDs, and all of them will be the same color at the same time. But at .30 per light, it's not a bad price. Don't forget to add resistors to drop the voltage, and some diodes to make them "full-wave" LEDs, and you'll be good.

New location - new display. Looking forward to 2015 season!
