John starting checking the red LED and found the flag (cathode) is positive on them. Where yours that way?

All my red LEDs the short leg (flag part) is positive. Glad I check them before soldering in place. Green, blue and the whites are correct.

Thanks for the info. I had planned to recheck each of mine before inserting in the board anyway, just in case one had maybe "gone bad". No need to waste time soldering and unsoldering a "bad" component.

BTW, I have started a "How To" on my website detailing my assembly of the Mighty Mini.

While waiting on the PCB to arrive, I started preping the lamp housings, and installing the RJ45-ECS connectors.

John, Denny and I would like to have a standard for wiring the ethernet connectors to the DC controller. Could you post how you wired yours with color coding of the wire and which connector in the keystone plate goes to which DC controller channels. We can follow your lead. Denny and I are making your version 1 enclosure. The reason we want a standard is so that we can share with each other when trouble strikes. Walter and Jack may be interested in your wiring too.

Also, which wire goes to which LED in the flood.

    Al,

I'm getting ready to head off to work, but since the positive is common, I used the white/strip for all common positives.

    Red wire = red light
    Green = green
    Blue = blue
    Brown wire = white light

Feel free to ask additional questions, and I'll reply when I get home this evening.

I didn't care which wires in the cat5 (between the keystones and the flood head) carry which signal, I just wanted something easy to wire at the controller and the flood head.

Technically, there isn't a "red" wire in the Cat-5 bundle. It's actually Orange, but it's close enough to work for this...

Did anyone find a good price for the ECS connectors? I'm thinking I need to rework mine to use these, depending on price and availability.

So, here is how I think we should standardize. The first number is the DC controller channel. The first color is cat5 wire color and second color is the RGB LED color. The white wire in each twisted pair is the + lead of the channel.

    1 orange red
    2 green green
    3 blue blue
    4 brown white
    5 orange red
    6 green green
    7 blue blue
    8 brown white
    9 orange red
    10 green green
    11 blue blue
    12 brown white
    13 orange red
    14 green green
    15 blue blue
    16 brown white

keystone cover (location was picked due to the channel wiring location on controller)
upper right in box is dc controller channels 1-4
lower right in box is dc controller channels 5-8
lower left in box is dc controller channels 9-12
upper left in box is dc controller channels 13-16.

The keystone location is really not necessary as long as the location is labeled.

    Mark,

You are so correct, it is orange, not red.

NO NO NO. Bizsyscon is too high. I've never ordered from them!

    My source is http://www.sparcotech.com/cgi-bin/co...n&key=RJ45-ECS

From my last two invoices, 10 = 39.82 Delivered and 15 were $ 69.29 delivered

    $4.15 each

Stay away from bizsyscon unless you just want to spend extra money.

Here is a source for some USED ones.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

$ 3.75 each w/ $4.95 flat rate shipping. I have not ordered from them though

    .

Al, you do know that on the LOR DC controller the + leads are all common on every channel. Only the - negative is switched by the controller. With your plan, all of the colors will be tied together at the printed circuit board, and you would be connecting the white/stripe to each of the LED traces on the PCB. There are only connection points for 5 wires on the Mighty Mini PCB

That's why I wired all the white/strips for + positive, so that all the whites will be tied together, Then use the solid colors, for the switched / controlled negative. to the respective locastion on the PCB.

    Seems less confusing to me.

Thanks John. I did not know that. I own a DC controller but have never opened the box. I changed my earlier post to reflect my ignorance. Thanks John.
