Al, the 24V Supply looks great. I will see if can spearhead a bulk buy.

What are you going to use 12V for ?

John, I am interested. I start construction on mine soon. I need to buy 3 more DC controllers at the summer sale. I want the boxes almost complete and ready to accept the controllers when they arrive in the fall.

    Denny, my ServoDogs need 12V.

The prices that Shop4LEDs lists on ebay for "bulk" purchases of 500 LEDs works out to at least $15 less than CeCe's on the same quantity. S4L doesn't advertise kits or a mix of LEDs. I ordered 20 LEDs from S4L, but due to other "reasons", haven't had a chance to try them out yet.

Shipping for S4L is direct from Hong Kong, and isn't speedy. It took about 10 days to receive them after they notified me they shipped.

That was the reason for posting the bulk buy interest question - to see if we wanted to do a bulk buy from Shop4LEDs.

Yes, let's bulk buy. You have my full attention. I need 15 kits (originally said 16), and I think Denny is going to populate 4 boards. Walter needs 2 kits and Jack 4 kits. Plus the x number that you need. That is enough for a bulk buy. Let's get this thing going. It sounds like you are further along than I am. BTW, I ordered 15 bare boards and I should have gotten 2 more. So, maybe I should get 17 kits and a couple spare boards from Frank (or whomever) when they become available--if ever.

There were a few boards extra ordered when I placed the board order. I just made it an even 40 or whatever the number was when I placed it, so there's options there too. I know that Denny isn't building out all his boards this year.

I will be getting a few other boards from Frank after the initial order, since I'm going to try out his Ren24LV cards as a feed for some of his SuperStrips. Al, if you want to place the order together for any "extras" like this, and want to combine shipping, we can do that too...

Give me a few days to get to trying out the LED's that I got from them and I'll re-open the bulk-buy LED thread to get folks to sign up for the right number of LED's to order. I'm guessing that we'll just have to order the LED's in bulk, and then work out how to split them up into the right number for each kit.

I respect and trust your opinion Mark. Let's do a group buy if it makes sense. I know some guys on DIYC experienced problems with other vendors. There experiences could have been tainted by several factors. Throw the LEDs into the freezer and then heat them up. I have a little experience in that department and freeze/heat cycles are good indicators of problematic electronic devices. I know you know that too, but this is for the group's education. Regardless, I am ready for a group buy.

    Mark -

How have you been controlling your DC displays? the DLA MR16 (saw a post by you there) or something else? I've committed to running SSR4's, so it means I'll be adding DMX to my display. I'm thinking of running a DMX DC board as well. I'll need to do something to control those LEDs Al told me I'm ordering!

Received my LED order today. Still need to test them. The headers included with the kit are real nice. Can't wait to get the boards, and start the assembly.

Boy John your photo looks like a DEA drug bust photo. However, I am happy you got your stuff. I'm waiting on the mighty mini boards and a bunch of SSR4 controller kits (4 channel DIY controllers from DIYlightanimation.com). Walter got the enclosures for the SSR4s today from the group buy. The UPS guy stacked the 3 huge boxes in front of his front door on top of each other and the door was obscured. The UPS guy is peeved at Walter. Walter said the boxes combined weighed well over 100 pounds. I'm sure it would have been cheaper to let us pick them up in Cary but what do I know.

So, I'm waiting on the photos of version 2 boxes John. Tick tock, tick tock. I need to build mine soon and would appreciate the advise.

DEA Drug bust photos? Yea, well they were in baggies, so why not. This is 4 sets. Need to order 4 more sets. Just checked my account on CeCe's website, I can cash in my points from this order which would amount to a 5% discount on my next order. That's cool, I can always use more discounts.

Photo's of the version 2 boxes will be soon. I had a Saturday off, weather was great, so I did outside stuff today. Supposed to rain tomorrow, so I might get it finished
