    Default Snowflake Forest

Started assembling my new Snowflake Forest today. Gosh what a bugger bear for one person. Have two out of seven poles finished and up now. Each pole is approx 20 feet tall, and will be spaced about 4 feet apart.
There will be another pole between the these two (hopefully)

Not sure how well these will hold up to the wind and weather, so thought I'd take a couple of pics now, 'cause they may come crashing down.

Looks good. I was going to do something similar with my display next year since controller channels will be dirt cheap (DIY). However, I only bought 1 case of the snowflakes and wanted a few cases more. Now that might not happen. Now I know where 3 dozen resides.

Wrong BIG BOY! You weren't paying attention. Jack's email to me this morning said my order for another dozen would be shipped today. That gives me 4 dozen !

Actually I only plan to use five channels for the whole array. That's the plan anyway, once I get them all up, the plan may change.

Hey, why don't you send Walter over here for a few days to help me get this thing up ?

    Craig,

I'd almost share with you and J, but not Al.

Heck, I'd even almost share with Deb or Walter, but I'd be afraid Al would take them away from them.

Edit: to add the word "almost"

awww, thanks John, almost makes me teary eyed, almost. It's ok though. I don't think the snowflakes are gonna help out this year anyways.

Between having problems with getting our lights and having to put a hold on the train because of work. We are just going to stick with what we did last year and be done with it.

AND deep down inside you know AL wouldn't think twice about taking the them from Deb or Walter... best you keep them there

John, you currently have 3 dozen snowflakes. A promise of another dozen only constitutes actual possession if you voted for BO. Both which promised but haven't fulfilled anything. Nonetheless, I should plan to provide a stimulus of your 3 dozen snowflakes. This will be a change for the better for you and the fine state of Tennessee.

If you want Walter it will cost you. He would have your display up, functioning, and improved in one day. He is currently busy helping me. Thank you for asking though.

Let me see if I understand your snowflake stimulas plan. Regardless of the words you used, the way it would actually work is I send you 3 dozen snowflakes, which would benefit me because I no longer had to store them or put them up and take them down. Is that how it really works?

I have no doubt that Walter could put my display up at least 5 times as fast as I can, and it would be improved and functioning much better as well. Heck, I bet he can work 4 hours straight, take a 30 minute break, then work another 5 hours straight (instead of work 15 min, then take a 30 min break like this old man has to do)

Finally got snowflake pole number 3 of 7 finished and up. 4 more to go!
There will be a pole between each of these three, then one more added to each end. (If they stay up and don't crash)

John, quit rubbing it in that I can't get anymore. They are nice though. They will look nice in my yard.

I emailed the guy that sold the snowflakes and asked if we could do a group buy. He didn't reply to my email. Nice.

    Al,

If I remember right, Jack came up with the design for the Snowflake in Motion and had a test run of around 7500 made ( I think this was in 2005 - 2006 time frame). His plan was to sell them to retail stores at around $9 each, and they would sell them for $ 14.95 each. Didn't work out that way.

He sat on them for many years, then in late 2007 - early 2008 dropped the price some and sold a few to individuals. Mid 2008 he decided to offer them for the $65 per dozen, delivered. I ordered my first dozen in March 09 then 2 more dozen in July 09.

The 2008 thread on PC was revived in Sept 09 and they started flying out the door. By Nov 3 when you made your post here, they were all but gone, and were gone by Nov 4.

Jack lost his butt on these, so I really doubt he would ever have anymore made up, and probably wasn't interested in dropping his price any lower since they started selling again due to the post on PC.

Maybe you could have your 9 year old Chinese friends build some while they are working on your $19.95 Wally World special Super Mega-Trees.

Look at this way, Al. John made it easier to take those away....

I like it John, reminds me a little of snowflake lane at Stone Mountain.

Thanks Craig, hope to get the last two poles up next Saturday.

So Al should wait until after that to come by with his 20 trailer. If Jack really did ship me the last dozen out last Wednesday, I should have them tomorrow, and get them into storage for next year.

It does look nice. I wanted to put them "randomly" all over the roof and front of my house. Maybe I'll make some out of wire frame.
