Default Proper size hole in PVC for RGB dome pixel (bullet)

My project consists of using some 10' lengths of 1" PVC cut in half lengthwise. I am then going to drill holes 3" apart and insert a dome RGB pixel through each hole (standard dome/bullet pixel string from Ray Wu). I have played around with various size holes, and 13mm seems to work the best (33/64" was just a little too snug). This is assuming my thought of how much of the actual pixel should stick through the hole is correct.

Also, should I put any type of silicone sealant around the pixel?

I have attached an example of what a 13mm hole. Any lessons learned or advice/recommendation/opinion would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Bob

i put mine in 13 mm holes with no sil or glue thay will be tight but im told a snug fit is best a little tuff to push in but everyone i know uses a 13 mm hole for a 13mm bullet node and what i see in your photo looks about right for height.

The drill bit I bought from Holiday Coro for putting pixels in Coroplast was 12mm. That's the size they recommend for their pixels. They fit great. And also work for Ray's. I have not tried PVC with this bit. Since PVC does not "give" as much as Coro, the larger 13mm might be an OK recommendation.
    Thanks,
