Default The 2013 Convention in Raleigh Poll

We are in the advanced stages for another convention in Raleigh for 2013. TASL is sponsoring the convention. We would like to discuss months to have the convention. What dates would you like? The actual date is dependent on many factors namely when we can get the building we used for last year's.

Per the Mayan calendar predictions, Dick Clark died this year. He's no longer around to bring in the new year, so we're stuck in 2012 forever.

As of right now, I have no preference as to when the convention is held. Despite the title, the first post says 2013, so I think it was an honest typo.

I haven't been to any before, so I'm not sure what's really good. What is the idea of the convention? Scott mentioned that August and beyond is better, is that because it gets everyone in the mood to finish up their display and start putting it up? If it's about techniques, that wouldn't leave much time to go ahead and implement them into the display, correct?

Could someone put this into perspective for me?

Here is a link to last year's convention. The "convention" is a big meeting (50-100 people) and we have presentations, display, door prizes, freebies, etc. Last year Judy Pancoast sang for us. It really is a lot of fun. TASL sponsored last year's and will sponsor 2013. The original time last year was in August but Hurricane Irene postponed the event until September. Several people told us they preferred September simply because the hustle and bustle of summer time activities slows in September.

Thumbs up on September from me. We're always swamped with family activities in August, at least until school starts. Late August is better than early August ..

I have too much work the last couple weeks in July and the first couple weeks in August to participate in a convention.

I was hoping Carl was going to hold one in the Charlotte area. We've not heard from him in a while. Perhaps someone should give him a call to find out if he plans this or not ? Seems quite late to not even have a date yet ...
