Default Heads up on Host Hotel

I was just verifying all my reservations for this up-coming weekend and found that the host hotel Springhill Suites didn't have a registration for me. Somehow it got lost, but I was lucky and they had room.

I would suggest everyone pull up your confirmation numbers and double check with the hotel.

Good suggestion. This hotel seems to be making odd mistakes. They confirmed my reservation but I had also paid in advance (as part of a deal to get a $20 Target gift card as a discount). The hotel could not confirm that I had paid but they have had my money for many weeks .. I'm sitting here typing while also on hold for the past 10 minutes .. while they search for my money. Can somebody remind me why we picked this particular hotel ?

Charity and I are staying at a Days Inn nearby; we're staying both Friday and Saturday nights, so the cost difference is worth a few minutes additional travel.

They found my money. Things are smoothed out (for now).

It still does not leave me feeling very confident that I won't have to go through this again when I check in. I usually don't have these problems with Marriott owned hotels tho ..

Mel and myself (wives too naturally) are staying at the Lake Norman Motor Coach Resort.

Blame John if something goes wrong. He deserves being blamed regardless if he had something to do with it. As a matter of fact, I think he is to blame for tons of stuff starting with the egg recall.

Actually I'm the one to blame. I normally stay at Marriott Courtyards, but I missed last year due to tornadoes in Dallas and found out the hotel was less than happy with the group last year. I have no idea why, the courtyard in NJ was great, they helped with ice and whatever we needed. I'm hoping the reservations was just a small hiccup.

You can't predict the level of service (or lack of) from a hotel. This is an odd situation and may just be a small coincidence. We may find that they actually do know what they are doing ! I will let you know after I check in ...

Their reservation disclaimer says they cannot guarantee my requests (which is primarily a non-smoking room) .. If they mess that one up then I will hit the roof !

    Denny,

I really doubt they will mess up your request for a non-smoking room. ALL of their rooms are non-smoking!

    John's fault.

As for the hotel in Charlotte, we did nothing wrong last year except occupy the lobby when the nazi woman wanted to go home. If that bothered the nitwit(s), then they should acquire a new line of work. I know parties as my primary clientele are college students, and I can assure you that we didn't have a party, we had a get together of some friends. No noise, no problems, it ended early, and we cleaned up after ourselves. Boo hoo water the flowers.

    John's fault again.

No, they had some complaints from some of the other guests that we were hogging the lobby. There were also a lot of old Ex-Pro Football Players staying there for a local golf tournment that was in town, and they also had friends (staying at other hotels) dropping by and we had the whole lobby taken over.

Some of the "old" guys complained to me also.

There was also a change in the "Manager-on-Duty" from Thursday evening (that I cleared everything with) to Friday evening with a different "Manager-on-Duty" that was not as receptive to our bar, and refused to provide us ice and other things that most places we stay for these gatherings will.
