    Lightbulb Two More Poles Made

Two more lighted poles were written off the to do list tonight.

Only thing left is adding a C9 socket at the top for a strobe.

What are they for ? What size pipe ? How many lights per channel ? How many channels per pole ? Is there a reason for the green wire vs. white wire ? .. etc etc .. !
    Thanks,

The two made last night will be added to the other five. Watch last year's video and you'll see them in action.

    Stats:
    3/4" PVC 10ft long
    100 lights per channel
8 channels per pole including strobe light at the top
green or white wire works, your choice.

What no Tater Twister? I used a drill too. When Richard Holdman posted his video of the Tater Twister setup, people were buying like crazy.

I appreciate the stats. I need a couple similar posts, but probably 2" or 3" PVC. I want them shorter than 10 feet, so that should work out good. I guess I need to get some light strings and start some test windings to calculate the length of various sizes. It would be nice to create a database of light-string windings on different poles. Comparing the lighted length and "wound length" to the pole diameter...
    Thanks,

The only problem with a "table" like that Denny, is that there is a not a "standard" light string.

The length of the string and the bulb spacing is different from various light manufacturers.

Even from the package to package of "identical" strings, depending on how tightly the twist is, the length will vary.

So in my opinion, the only way to know what will work for you, is to do some tests with the strings you are using on different diameter pipes.

I learned the hard way that the strings occasionally need to be replaced. Walter and I changed one about an hour before show time. There was something systemically wrong with that light string. I was glad that we used SPT cable with plugs as changing the string was relatively easy.
