    Default Question about Taking Donations

This year I want to take donation for a Charity. I have a donation box and I know I need to make sure it secured and empty it nightly.

I just want to know, do I need to contact the charity first and how do I do this if I do.

I did, if for no other reason than to make sure I had all the bases covered and their blessing as well. One bonus is they also made available their graphics and other items for me to use. I also sent them my voiceovers from The Demented Elf detailing that I would be collecting on their behalf and they were thrilled about the whole idea. They will also email my display listing and show times for all their contributers to see. And if I ever get my website built they can go there and see the link for all the area Christmas Carolina light shows to visit.
And on the 8th day, God created Christmas lights.

Definitely. It will add credence to you intentions if the charity supports your efforts. Any charity is concerned with how their name is being used.

I notified my charities by phone of my intentions last year. It really came together when I handed the check over.

Now they support me 100% because it's money they didn't have before.

Make sure the newspapers publish it to show proof to the community.

Well it's been a month and The organization I chose to collect money for still has not allowed me to use their Logo nor can I say I am collecting donation for them. I can say all Donation shall be Gifted to them.

Donna feels that without the Logo folks would not take my donation spot a legitimate donation locations.

    Any thoughts.

Be paient, it took over three months for mine to give their ok. I did a monthy reminder email gently proding them on what I was doing. I also sent them links to several local guys (Wayne, Dave Brown) so they would have a better idea of what I was wanting to do. The approval came quickly after I sent them Kevins voiceovers detailing their charity, that with the videos helped them understand just what I was planning.

Have you considered the Buy Al A New Truck Foundation. I'll let you use my logo. The clunker rebate crap is going broke, and I could use a new truck. You can have your picture taken handing me the check or cash is even better. I'll be very grateful.

Glad to hear you found someone to use. The other guys will probably come up about the 2nd week of December and want to talk about it. At least now you can mark that off your list and include them in your voiceovers and signs. I'm already stressing over getting all the items marked off that list early so I'm ready to go without any problems.

You can contact Photovor over at DIYC, he has made quite a few signs for people in the past (me) and does a great job of cutting out vinyl signs that you can attach to lexan or whatever and back light for your "Tune to Sign" and even incorporate your charitys graphics as well.

We sent an E-Mail to the local radio station 107.9 the link and asked if we could mention the charity they do every year for "Santa's Link for Kids". After we sent links to what the display was so they could get an ideal they resonded within a day to say OK.

Anyone use a donation Thermometer to show the public how well you are doing?

I read the can help you raise more money by show people that other are donating and when you get close to your goal some folks are ispired to help you reach it.

We plan on using one at the dontion box and on our website.
