    Default The New Neighbor talk???

It seems that I could have some new neighbors in November...My BIGGEST fear is that I will get one of THOSE people as a neighbor somewhere on my street....looks like MOST of them are young family age 25-40...I know my immediate neighbor beside me...but I don't know the ones across the street, the ones facing what would be my canvas ....How would you approach this....come right out and tell them...invite all the neighbors over and mention it....???? Suggestions...
In addition, I had planned to go from 16-32 channels this year...think I should keep it simple the first year??? The good thing is that I live on a LOOP...so any traffic coming by would be driving by and OUT...only thing that could come up is blocking driveways...

OH and anybody not doing anything...you can come help me move...REALIZING how much CRAP we have accumulated between four people in 11 years....SCARES ME!!!

If your display is a problem to the neighborhood then it is a problem to everyone and not just the new neighbors and should be throttled back. If your present neighbors like the display then chances are the new neighbors will too. However, it is totally possible that the new neighbors will not like it regardless. Someone told me once this saying, "It is easier to be nasty to someone that you don't know". In other words make friends with them early.

My current neighbors LOVED it...the only complaint was that one of them almost backed into a car sitting in front of my house with their parking lights on....

Figured I would throw a pig pickin and chat it up with the neighbors when I move in...

Good idea. Some folks throw an opening night event/party and invite the neighbors.

Ask 'em what their favorite Christmas song is, and sequence it for them.

Which reminds me, I need to get to work on "Silent Nacht"

Every Jew I knew/know enjoys the Christmas spirit and holiday festivities, even if they're still waiting for the Messiah.

Same thing for the Muslims I've known. The Buddhists next door enjoy my manger scene and put out Christmas lights, and even let me put a megatree in their front yard, near our common property line.

In fact, the only local neighbor who has said anything negative about having Christmas displays on the street was a "my way or you're condemned to Hell" Christian. I'm glad she moved away. She was also something of an isolationist; I've been here 10 years and only talked to her about 3 times, once when she complained about those horrible lights and that horrid music, and another time when she called the cops on my dog. The third time was at least somewhat civil.
