Default Checking interest on another LED buy for MM.

Yes, I know that some of you haven't gotten your LEDs yet. They're coming to Raleigh this week

This is to check interest in another group purchase for the LEDs needed for the Mighty Mini LED flood.

    Parts included (per kit) are:

    Red - 16
    Green - 12
    Blue - 12
    Warm White - 6
    Cool White - 6

Resistors and terminal block would NOT be included, as they can be sourced from several places.

Note that the price of the LEDs is dependent on how many folks sign up, since discounts go up with total quantity of LEDs.

The LED price of is expected to be less than $28 per kit, not including shipping and fees.

5-6 kits fit in a small Priority Mail box, so shipping to you would be about $7 for that size box.
Local delivery is possible in NC.

LEDs are the 5-chip 8mm version. Haven't found a bad one yet in the batch.

This has been posted on DIYC and PlanetChristmas as well.

Please indicate your interest here, including the quantity desired. This does not commit you to purchase anything.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I've had some requests for other color LEDs and other quantities than just for the MM.

I've opened up the choices for requests to UV LEDs, and possibly other LED types that shop4leds sells.

So if you want 30 UV LEDs or 50 White LEDs, then let me know.

The window on this group buy will be short, so I can get this done before I start on other projects. I'll probably start this in the next few days, and end it by the middle of next week.

do you have a URL for them, please? A quick Google search turns up an eBay store, a closed site, a site in the netherlands, and a bunch of other links. Not sure which one is the right one...

    Thanks!!!

Note that the pricing for the LEDs will be less than what is advertised in the ebay store. The guys over at DIYC have indicated their interest in at least 20-30 kits, so a similar price to what we did earlier this year is definitely possible.

This group buy will start in the next 2 days. This has been advertised on several forums, including here on Christmas Carolina. However, it will be run only on one forum, which will be DIYC (doityourselfchristmas.com). Check over there in the Group Buy section for the final details. PM me if, for some reason, you don't want to join DIYC and post there.

Expected pricing for a MM set of LEDs (no resistors or terminals included) is expected to be about $26.50 plus shipping and PayPal fees. It could be less! Shipping for 5 sets or less should be a Priority Mail Small flat rate box at about $7.40 including insurance. Local delivery may be possible. The LED price is based on getting at least 50 kits ordered from all sources, but there's been interest for at least that many already. Payment is expected at the close of the buy via PayPal or CreditCard. If, once the purchase has been made, the pricing comes in lower, then refunds will be issued to all participants.

Mark, do you know if anyone has tried putting 1W LEDs on the Mighty Mini? I haven't priced out the 1W vs. 0.5W. Just curious.

Al, I don't know if anyone has already done it, but I know that a few folks are thinking about it, and in fact, want me to include some of them in the group buy.

Note that some of the 1W LEDs are rated up to 300mA of current. That's more than twice what the .5W ones take.

And at quantity pricing, the 8mm 1/2 w are about .50-.60 each, while the 1W are around $1.50-1.75 each.

I will be ordering UV variants of the 1/2w as part of this, so if you're looking for some of those for Halloween...
