Just got a slightly better price quote from the supplier on the LEDs. I'm waiting on the PayPal invoice to make a payment, and then we should have the order placed. Supplier says they'll ship in a day or so after payment, and based on my previous order (which was much smaller!) should take about 10 days to get here from HK.

LED order is placed. Mouser order for the extra terminal strips is placed. Plastic bag order (to put all the LEDs in) arrived today.

Unless we get hit with a customs fee on the LEDs, there will be a refund coming, since we got a great deal on the LEDs. And that includes getting 30 or so extra of each color to have for spares in case there's a bad one in the batch. Estimate for the refund is about $1 per kit, but won't be final until everything arrives.

The mailman came to the house today - rang the doorbell, knocked on the door, rang the doorbell again. There was a package that needed a signature. Wife asked where it was from, and they said, Hong Kong.

LEDs have arrived!!! The vendor sent them by a much quicker method than normal, so it was Global Express Mail once it hit the US!

Sorting has begun - all the resistors and terminal strips are already done. LEDs will take a little longer, since there's over 2400 of them that were sorted by color.

Anybody want some kits? Will update when sorting is finished...

Mark, if the component came in bundled bad just leave mine in bundles. It is easier for the both of us. Or whatever is easiest.

Sorting is done. In fact, it's been done for a day or so, with the help of my wife.

I decided to build one of my kits so that I knew that things would work correctly for folks once they got theirs. Finished it tonight in just a couple of hours.

Lights look good. I did not measure the current running through each set of colors, but believe that it should be fine. I have to rework the original boards that I built and showed at TASL to put the right resistor values.

For those that are wondering, here are the values of resistors that will come with the kit, and which position/color they need to go on the board:

    Red - 68 Ohms - R1 and R5
    Green - 56 Ohms - R2 and R6
    Blue - 39 Ohms - R3 and R7
    White - 47 Ohms - R4 and R8

Will need to work out when I'm coming to Raleigh next week, and how to get the kits/boards to those who ordered them.

It sounds like it may be time for another TASL face-to-face at the Starbuck's.

I'm coming to Raleigh on Thursday of next week (5/6) for work. I will have some time early afternoon to meet up for a delivery. It may be that one or two folks from Raleigh can meet me, and I can give all the orders to them, and they can distribute them to the rest.

I'll be in the North Raleigh area (Wake Forest Road) around 1-3. I have customer meetings earlier and later in the day. In a pinch, I could meet someone at 11 for a quick drop off.

Drop me a PM or an email to confirm.

I might be able to handle this. My work schedule is unpredictable at this point, but I likely will be able to pick them up. Walter works in North Raleigh. Maybe you could drop them off with him. Maybe.

Mark, could you post the part numbers of the LEDs that you bought? We may want to buy more.

There's no part number that I ever knew of...

These were TopBright 140degree 8mm StrawHat 5-chip LEDs. The ebay store is shop4leds.

I did get some inquiries from several folks on PC that missed the group buy. If there's an interest in doing this again, I'm sure that they would be interested.

For the 45 kits, we ordered 750 Red, 570 Green, 570 Blue, 300 Warm White, 300 White. That's almost 2500 LEDs. We got a great price because of the quantity, and quick shipping.

I'm more than willing to run a group buy again, if there's enough interest.

I think I need 2 more kits and boards. I think Denny said I could have his, but if you have more I'd rather not take his stock.

I am OK with giving up two of my 8 boards. I am only building 4 Minis for now. And can get more next year if needed. I think I may have also given up another two to somebody. These RGB discussions are so long I can't remember.

If one of you remembers me allocating two of my raw boards to you ... let me know.
