Default Regent MQF150 Floodlight (Mighty Mini Flood Enclosure) Bulk Buy

I am placing an order in 1 week for the Regent MQF150 Floodlight. This is the floodlight that gets modified for the Mighty Mini Flood. This vendor likely has the cheapest price available for this flood at $7.03. I will contact them about getting a quantity discount but don't know if a quantity discount will occur. However, the difference is in shipping costs. Here is the link to the flood:
    http://www.castlewholesalers.com/REG...onze.html#3214

1 Unit shipped to Raleigh is $11.89
    2 units is $12.16 or $6.08 each
    3 units is $12.41 or $4.14 each
    5 units is $13.01 or $2.60 each
    10 units is $14.59 or $1.46 each
    15 units is $18.94 or $1.20 each
    20 units is $20.76 or $1.04 each.

I am ordering 16 units so the shipping will be significantly less for me (per unit). If you guys want to order some with me, I will pass along whatever savings. I want to order this March 24, 2010. I believe only Mark, Denny, Walter, and myself actually order PC boards. I don't want to mess with shipping to others, so this is a local pickup or maybe a pickup at the Mini in August.

    Al 16 units.

Heck, I ordered 10 of the MMF PCB's, might as well have something to put some of them into.

Put me down for 4 enclosures.

I'll be talking to Mark about the MR16 when he's feeling better.

If by "this hobby" you mean year-round Christmas decorations and preparation, yes. As long as you mean year round.
We bought this house in 2001 because it has a detached two bay garage with a walk-up second story just for Christmas decorations. However, the commercially made wireframes downstairs are keeping me from putting my cars in there.

    Hi Jack,
Yes that is what I meant. It is nice to see you doing it. I have a couple storage areas just for the Christmas decorations. It certainly is a year round fun hobby. We spend the whole year getting dressed for the December prom. I am always amazed at the level of work that goes on in the early stages.

Put me down for 4 enclosures. Even tho I bought 8 raw cards, I am only going to build the first 4 this year. That will eat all 16 channels of my first DC controller.

I am still intrigued by the idea of using CAT5 cables. But I would like to see (hands on) a good waterproof socket. Or if not waterproof, the at least a socket the sits really tight with a better locking mechanism for the end of the wire. Als, have you purchased anything yet ?

I checked today and there is no price break and the floods are backordered for 3-4 weeks.

Denny, if you are referring to the cat5 water resistant plug, no. I haven't thought that far ahead yet. I have too many things going on. I guess I will use a water resistant plug of some sort. I did find this on PC.

Those are the RJ45-ECS jacks that I bought for mine I bought from a different supplier.) I bought 8 and I like them so well, I'm getting ready to order another dozen. I'm putting them on the lamp housings and also 6 on each of the CG-1500A boxes. (Those boxes are a pain to open, so I'm fixing them so I won't have to. Everything can be plugged and unplugged with the box closed)

Al, is that price of $7.85 each or for a pack of 16 (@ 49 cents each) ??? If $ 7.85 each that's too high. Most of the websites have them in the $ 4-5 range for each.

oh, I see now. That is just a pass through, like a groment. no connections - just hollow.

the one's I have, have a male lead molded onto a waterproof female. Like this,
but I found a less expensive source.

I think I would prefer the panel mounted version. But I have a boat load to buy of them. So, I don't know which yet.

The one I linked to can be panel mounted or it can dangle like a dongle. The male end is a metal encased RJ45 male on a 12" lead, and inside the female housing is a metal encased RJ45 socket. Very rugged. I did a submersion test, pluged a RJ-45 into the female, slid the retaining connectors on, and dunked it in water for 30 minutes. When I disassembled, it was bone dry inside.

Your application may be different then mine, just sharing what I found and happy with. Here's a data sheet on the ones I have, and getting ready to order more of. The price I found was just under $5 each delivered.

Hi John .. I don't see how the RJ45-ECS is different. Is there a plug on the end of the tube ? How does that end seal up to be waterproof. The picture from your like does not really show how these work ..

    Denny,

Since the bulk buy cases are such a PIA to open and close (not at all like the plastic LOR cases) I'm surface mounting (to the case) 6 of these, so I can make the RJ-45 connections from the outside (2 for RS485 data, and 4 for the floods), For the flood housings, I'll let the female hang out like a dongle.

I just now ordered 15 more, with shipping the price was $ 4.47 each delivered.
