    Default New Transmitter Arrived

My new transmitter arrived today. I picked up a Mobile Black Box Eclise 4000. Boy does that put out a clear signal. Now I have to figure out how to reel in the signal a bit. What a difference over my Belkin Mod.

Kevin, do you have any pictures of it?

I ordered the EDM LCD without RDS during the last group buy.

I went for the Ramsey FM30, built in America. Works great very clear and good distance with the antenna that came with it.

If you are using an external antenna then the higher the antenna the greater the distance--up to a point. So, if you lower or place it in the house would do that job nicely. The other way is to use lower grade coax especially if the antenna is a long distance away. The coax would attenuate the signal.

    Al:

I'm using the antenna supplied with it. Its a 33" telescoping antenna. The cble is 5ft long. I have it in my office on the second floor of the house. I don't have the line of sight distance but drving wise I'm getting out further than the 1600 max this is suppossed to have. I did order another antenna. Its the rubber one like you'd find on a walkie talkie.

I love the Ramsey transmitters. Mine is the FM25B. I think it's the same power as the 30 but it does not have the frequency display, just dip switches in side for the frequency. I bought a compact quarter wave antenna and I'm getting about a quarter mile clean. Our street is a large circle and I anticipate people going around and around. So this way they will get my FM the whole time rather than breaking up and having a retune when they come back around. This is starting to get fun !

Hey that's a nice looking unit!

And a good price too, I wish I knew about it before I ordered my EDM-LCD-RDS unit. I hope to get it this week sometime. I had to upgrade the little belkin, it did the job for 2 years though. It was not the greatest job though but I got my $30 dollars worth.
